Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Solely responsible for the current interest in all things funky and French, the Daft Punk boys, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, can do no wrong. Breaking into the club scene with their own blend of techno-disco in 1995, their debut album is the 80's electro-funk record of your dreams. Influenced by old school Chicago house and Detroit minimalist techno (all name checked on "Teachers"), Homework ranges from the warped electro that has become their trademark on "Around the World" and "Da Funk", to banging acid techno on "Rollin'and Scratchin'" and "Alive". An album so funky it could make James Brown cry, and with so much bite you can feel it at the back of your throat. --Ed Potton

5 out of 5 stars Classic House Record   February 27, 2008
R. Mullaney (Leeds, UK)

Reclusive French electronica legends Daft Punk, delivered their finest moment with this classic album of house and techno.

Most young people will probably be familiar with Daft Punk after Kanye West sampled Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger on his hit Stronger last year. What they probably don't realise is just how influential Daft Punk have been on the dance music scene for many years and how many musicians have been inspired by their filtered electronic funk. They are genius at spotting perfect samples in obscure records and using them to devastating effect on big brash electronic stompers. Daft Punk's heavy bass and vocodered vocals were way ahead of the times when they released Homework and despite the more commercial success of 'One More Time' from the Discovery album, 'Around the World' and 'Da Funk' remain their best work. Homework is full of similarly good production and other standout tracks include 'Rollin' and Scratchin' and 'Teachers'. It's hard to imagine that this album is over ten years old when it sounds as fresh as this.

5 out of 5 stars Very minimal, in a way there best known songs are the worst   November 28, 2007
Mr. William Warren
My best track on here would be rock n roll which i find competely ground breaking. I can understand how many people would listen and think that it is far too long, but these are the sngs that defined a genre and this album is not for you if you are only shallow enough to listen da funk and around the world. If you want to have a really engaging experience listen to all the songs and forget about the skip button. This is an album that works on all levels. I wouldn't start here if you were new to daft punk though try discovery it is far more user friendly so to say.

This Album is fantastic!

Not only did it lauch daft punk....to become one of THE Electronic dance acts of the 90's untill the present day.....It IS the BEST album they have ever created.

None of the tracks dissapoint. Sure the Following albums are good but....The original will always be the best!

1 out of 5 stars Repetitious   June 20, 2007

0 of 100 fans will find the following review helpful, but having owned HOMEWORK for several months now, and having given it every opportunity to grow on me at home and in the car, I still find it the most dull and repetitious garbage I've ever heard. And this is from someone who loves Sven Vath, Air, Chemical Brothers, Way Out West, Blue Amazon, Legowelt...

If you were to strip these Daft Punk tracks of their repeat bars, each one would be about nine seconds long. It's the original cut-and-paste sequencer muzak, made famous by the fact it's brash and retro. You should really avoid it unless you're certain you like that sort of thing.

For this underground smash to almost automatically make it to the mainstream says alot about the album. You may think their future ventrues have perhaps been poppie but this album shows their roots well.
