Quest for brilliance 2. April 27, 2007 Mr. T. Siegertsz (Staffordshire, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Similar to the first Quest For Trance album (Mixed by Hemstock & Jennings), yet just as interesting, euphoric, progressive, and different enough to make a worth while purchase. I got my hands on volumes 1 and 2 as soon as they were released and I must say that this series looks to be a very powerful addition to the worldwide trance nation.
Once again another quality British based duo (Nick Riley & Andi Durrant) have been assigned the task of compiling an innovative yet high quality collection of trance tracks, which also span across numerous subdivisions of trance. Although this partnership are not quite as well known as Hemstock & Jennings they have provided some recent classics (mostly mixes) throughout their short (but growing) and new careers. `Neon Eyes' is one of their most recognised tunes as is `Candesco' which featured on Gatecrasher: Forever (`Future' anthems), however my favorite track of all by this duo has got to be `Hollow'. This features fantastic vocal work by Gina Dootson whom provided similar vibes to `By Your Side' by The Thrillseekers, however this track is much more euphoric and is an equal or in deed better than Martin Roth's interpretation of `By Your Side'.
As with Quest For Trance volume 1, disc 1 offers an array of pulsating, euphoric and progressive songs with essences of tech trance and hard trance creeping in. My person favorites would be; Sean Tyas: Lift, Alex M.O.R.P.H. & Talla 2XLC: Full Prelude, Above & Beyond: Can't Sleep (Maori Remix) and the legendary Lost Tribe: Gamemaster (Mark Sherry Remix). Whereas disc 2 is very much a Techno/Tech trance affair with some solid progression and beats; highlights being Bart Claessen's rework of 'When Morning Comes' and Arizona vs. Suzy Solar: Samurai (Assure Remix), not to mention the inclusion of DJ superstars like Armin van Buuren and Marco V.
