"The Biggest Name DJs and Remixers In Trance", states the sleeve, smugly--but since when, in this saturated market of Ibiza-gatecrasher-glowstick mix CDs, have these compilations offered anything other than the same old usual suspects? As a DJ, John Digweed might sneer at the populist trance brigade, but as one half of trance producers Bedrock, he's more than happy to pocket the cheque when his "Heaven Scent" is jammed into the mix on every bloody compilation ever. Trance Masters does feature the said tune, as well as a host of other familiar face--Sasha, Oakie, Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten--but hey, no-one claimed this was a voyage into the dance underground, did they? Anyway, the second CD does make an effort to throw in some nice surprises--Hybrid's "If I Survive", as tranced out by Way Out West, and Jan Driver's retake on Lucid's "Stay With Me To Dawn". Take a close look at the track listing before you buy, though--if you're a fan you'll no doubt you'll have most of this elsewhere. --Louis Pattison

I have bought all the Trance Nation Cds, I have bought the Euphoria collection and I've even dabbled with a bit of Cream (Ooeer!!) The quality of the tunes and indeed the mixing on this double CD is absolutely phenominal! It's incredible that this CD did not get the exposure that it deserves. Countless friends went out and bought Trance Masters after hearing it played. I cannot recommend this title enough!!
