Pure brilliance February 1, 2008 N. JOSEPH (Wales) Worth a purchase just for the 1sr CD. I haven't even listened to the 2nd CD. I have listened to all the previous ISOS series and can honestly say CD1 on this one is the most polished of the lot.
Fave track has to be "Arise" towards the end. A real uplifting tune.
So good this, recommend to anyone.
Tiesto Makes This One Shine!!!! November 7, 2006 A. Spaeth 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Some of the best chill-out trance I've heard Tiesto mix in a LONG time. The energy, momentum and all-out mind-bending 'travelscaping' he mixes into this album is quite sensational. I've never really been an all-out Tiesto fan, always tended to lean more to the Oakenfold/van Dyk side of trance, but this album puts me right back into the Tiesto corner. He really does raise his game to another level that I haven't seen (heard) him reach recently, hell.... EVER! Well done Tiesto... if you're wondering if you should get this album, it's a no-brainer: BUY, BUY, BUY!!!!!
Classic modern day trance September 6, 2006 D. Lower (England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a classic modern day trance album. I think Mr Tiesto is getting better and better. The first CD is near perfection with so many classy tunes mixing and blending together. The start of the album is just divine with each of the first 5-6 tunes complimenting the next. This just sets the tone; there is no pause or even a plateau in this journey, which is actually very common in most trance compilations. This depicts the set Tiesto picked is perfect, a further indicator to why Tiesto is head and shoulders above the rest. Unfortunately the second CD struggled to live up to the expectations set by the first. After track 3 (Zanzibar), which is pure magic, you are left with a glowing feeling of excitement for the rest of the album. But the next 5 tracks just never go anyway and the journey, which Tiesto so famously produces, peters out. This is not to say the CD is rubbish, far from it. I'm just comparing it to the wonder of the first. Never fear for the journey reappears with track 9 (Second turn) and the CD finishes on a very positive note. What I love about this album is the freshness of it. It's relaxed, it's chilled, and yet it makes your blood tingle. I would say about 70% of the tracks are unique, with beautiful lyrics and smooth steady beats. This is easily the best album in his `in search of sunrise' series. This album is one of those building blocks for a trance collection, without it the collection lacks that 3rd dimension. A must buy!!!!!
Trance for the summer May 27, 2006 Alan (Stafford, United Kingdom) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
In Search Of Sunrise Vol5 is a fantastic album for those of you who want to listen to the heat of the summer. The drifting layers and the powerful club beats combined makes this a joy to listen to, and reminds you of the trance 90s. It is very difficult to combine trance and chillout in one album, but Tiesto, true to form, does this with ease. His choice of song is perfect, as they all seem to fit with each other. If you are looking for individual pieces of brilliance though, you may be a little disappointed, depending on your style. What In Search Of Sunrise does is flow as an album, and the rewards are reaped much more if you listen to CD1 from the start, without pausing or skipping through to the end of CD2. It takes you on an emotional journey, those emotions usually passionate, relaxing and content within a hot, seaside club land. Don't get me wrong, as with any album, I prefer some tracks to others, particularly recommending Leama & Moor's effort on CD1 and Jonas Steur on CD2, but they are made better if you listen to the songs before and after it. Whatever the weather, stick it on. If it doesn't compliment the sunshine, it will certainly make rainy days feel so much better. Tiesto has done it again.
Pure Trance Chill Out May 13, 2006 O. Harland (London, UK) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
The fifth CD in the "In Search of Sunrise" collection serves as a timely reminder, if ever one was required, as to why Tiesto is by far and away the most compelling trance DJ on the scene. His real talent lies in simply carrying you away with the quality of tunes he selects and the methodical and precise build up of atmosphere to create that ultimate trance chill out.
DO NOT be compelled by other reviews claiming Ferry Corsten to be the better of the two. Ferry is a sublime entertainer and one of the best live that i have seen, but his produced music lacks the cutting edge that Tiesto brings. The "In Search of Sunrise" series is not about banging trance, as one naturally assumes most people would glean from the title. For anyone wanting blissful trance to carry you away on a hot summer's evening or early morning this is the series for you. For those in search of something to get your evening going, try Tiesto's "Magik" series or "Just Be"...then Armin Van Buuren, Sasha or Ferry Corsten.
