Nyana - A Tiesto Classic October 24, 2004 Trancer (UK South West) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
A great double mix cd with some excellent tracks such as conjure ones - tears from the moon and Motorcycle - as the rush comes. Just to name to classic songs. Tiestos mix is his usual perfection. This guy can do no wrong. I enjoyed so many of the songs here that i spent a fortune in time and money hunting down as many tracks as i could on cd single. Just incase your interested i did a search to find out what "Nyana" means :) Apparently it means "Money" and in my opinion Tiesto deserves to be rich :)
As usual tiesto show his talents once again but May 25, 2004 Jamie E. I. Wright Hes shows it differently with a outdoor mix which is harder and abit hardhousey than trance. But to tell the truth i didnt take take to to the disc1 because its very different to say summerbreeze or search for sunrise series. But once it played on i noticed the different styles with very funky and had some good solid vibes.Disc1 being tiesto usual uplighting trance more chilled. So i recon if you aint into abit hardhouse than thats not a bad thing because disc2 is like tiesto usual style. But for me i like chilled and extreme stuff so i like it alot. So its up to you.
Progressive and uplifting March 9, 2004 L. ROBERTS (UK) All but one of the tracks on this double CD pack were virtually unknown to me yet each choice that Tiesto has made is a good one. My favourite of the two has to be the Outdoor CD (Disc 2). My mind, ears, heart and soul appreciate every second of Andain - Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dresden Mix), it is a lyrically perfect song that warms the heart and soul. Tiesto's choice of tracks is anything but mainstream, yes I've heard a few of them but each is a great track in its own right and was relatively unknown at the time of release of this CD. The only track I see that has become somewhat mainstream is of course Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes but reading a bit more into the "mix" of the track it was an exclusive Demo given to Tiesto to be played by him. Because of the fantastic reception the track got it became more mainstream, as they inevitably do. Disc 2 is certainly more chillout than it is dance your socks off but Disc 1 makes up for this, it's a lot rougher on the ears and easier to dance to however let's not forget that you're not going to be dancing at the bus stop with your Discman on full pelt. These two CD's were created to be listened to and loved not thrown in the CD player at some massive trance lovers party with 1000 people waving their hands in the air. If you're a Tiesto fan you're not likely to be disappointed.
Varied... February 11, 2004 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
Another very good release by DJ Tiesto. I have to say though that I didn't quite fall in love with this compilation the first time I stuck it in my CD player. CD 1 is more of a slow start to the jounrey but once the cd has been played a couple of times the realisation is that Tiesto is simply easing you in for what is to come......that is what makes his work so special. He pays a considerable amount of thought and attention to how and where he is going to record his tracks. This way he can recreate the feeling of bliss he himself feels as the eager consumer pops the merchandise into the sound system! Tiesto has a completely unique style. He seems to combine all the best elements of trance into his work to create something uplifting, melodic and yet progessive. This CD is exemplar material of such a style. CD 1 is slightly more vigorous with harder undertones. Quality vocals are characteristic throughout the entire compilation, for example Jan Johnston and Sinead O'Connor on Disk 1. The gabriel & Dresden Mix of Andain's "Beautiful Things" on CD 2 is well worth a mention - a track that leaves a feeling of warmth and content inside those who have the pleasure of listening to it. If you are more of an Uplifting kind of person CD 2 will be ur focus. "Catcher - Destiny Sunrise" has the kind of haunting melody you will want to hear again and again. Tina Arena's contribution to The Roc Project's "Never" has been well receieved, another highly regarded track in tranceland at present. Othe rfavourite's are "POS - Remember (Summer Sun) and "Solid Globe - North Pole", placed conveniently to round-off a truly physically and psychologically addictive compilation. Tiesto gives you the trance, the whole trance and nothing but trance - it's Class A - and MUST be bought.
A classic example of sales marketing..... February 9, 2004 SeLL_SOaP (Athens - GREECE) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was a fun of Tiesto in his first years, when trance was raw - fresh and intended to get you hard dancing by "riding" on the music. But Nyana is a brilliant example of how a record company can make the artist to go for money rather than music. Cause if Tiesto was not voted (by public voting) No 1 dj on earth, i dont think he would ever compile these songs (or most of them) for a cd. In my ears, the company thought: "lets take some money from the mainstream sheeps (that whatever goes No 1 in whatever charts or voting is good to buy, without even knowing what trance was/is about) now that he was voted No 1. The same thing happened with Paul Oakenfold. So, both cds are just some 100% mellow trance that cannot even attract the listeners ear and think "that s a superb trak", it all flows in the background until it ends. Shame for Tiesto or for his product managers. If i wanted something for the background to chill, i d put on some Thievery co. or Karminsky xp.
