Amazon.co.uk Review Recorded in a bombproof subterranean studio in south London, the Chemical Brother's sixth studio album, We Are the Night brings us more of the duo's famed block rockin' psychedelia. Shot through with trademark acidic bleeps, sidereal synths and thrusting basslines, We Are the Night gets off to a strong yet stormless start with the level-headed title track, and solid but less-than-incendiary cuts like "All Rights Reversed," (which features new ravers The Klaxons) and "Do It Again." Only on the irrefutable "Saturate" do the duo begin to reach their form: a building, twisting, highly infectious tune that blends baggy drums with washes of kaleidoscopic electronica. "Das Spiegel" takes on minimal house with endearing consequences, while former Pharcyde rapper Fatlip waxes lyrical on the decidedly fishy "Salmon Dance." Things hot up again with "A Modern Midnight Conversation," and its thudding disco b line and "Battle Scars," with distinctive husky vocals provided by Willy Mason. "Harpoons" and "The Pills Won't Help You Now" end the trip on a suitably phantasmagoric note; though not much on We Are the Night approaches their glory years, it does reinforce their continued relevance in terms of twisted, danceable, electronic music. --Paul Sullivan

Chemical hypnosis January 16, 2008 David Johnson (Buenos Aires) Ten years and still going strong The Chemical brothers might just have come up with their strongest album yet. We are the night is surprisingly fresh and full of ideas. The drums are as ever snappy, the beats lithe and unpredictable. My favourites are the oriental-flavoured Saturate, the minimal electro-pop of Das Speigal (aptly named,) and the ambient, driving beat of Burst Generator. There is indeed something for everyone on this, from the familiar dancefloor mover Do it Again to the beatifully harmonic The Pills don't work, guest vocalist Midlake sounds very much like Neil Young. This record serves as a fine revindication of The Chemical Brothers place at the top of the British dance tree. Buy it!
The Chems "Do it again"! December 23, 2007 Dunks (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was a little surprised by some of the more negative reviews that have graced this album and was left wondering if we were listening to the same record. It's certainly their best since Surrender, though is maybe not as immediate. Combining deep dark funk (Do It Again), Indie-rave mash up (All Rights Reserved), deep funky techno (Saturate) amongst others, it's certainly an album I've not gotten tired of this year and rewards repeated listens. Okay, the Salmon Dance may divide opinion but personally it brightens up my day every time I hear it

ok i have listen to chemical brothers for years and i have to say thisalbum is brilliant i have always liked there more physcodelic side and this album is full of it modern midnight conversation is an awsome track its got a reel hypnotic 80 electro sort of vibe with a ambient voice like some early ninetys record i love whole album and it fits in amazingly well with older records even though they have evolved so much.
Saturate!! November 3, 2007 Mr. Matt T. Wheeler 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I dont care what you say but saturate is an absoulte bangin electro breaks song that sounds so sick ,in fact i think i would just see them to hear that song break, what a tune!!!!
