After just over two years out of the lime-light, those fantastic brothers are back with a new wave and a new sound.'Come With Us is an album that steps away from the big beat that all chems fans have known and come to love.
This could have been a bad thing, and it's allways hard when making a follow up album. But Tom and Ed, had something up their psychdelic sleeves, and it was music with texture and depth.
'Come With Us' Explodes with the Title track, which is as close to a classic chemical Brothers as there is ever likely to be, a massive original breakbeat track that would wake the dead.
Following on from their is the huge Tribal thump of 'Afrika', which was the first single off the new album. This track got a huge response from clubland all over the world. 'Afrika' blends into 'Galaxy Bounce' via some neat scratching. 'Galaxy Bounce' is a funky fast big beat tune that is to be the follow up to the hit single 'Star Guitar', which is the next track.
Ever thought what it would have been like if the Beach Boys had envented Electro music? Maybe not, but track 5, 'Hoops' sounds just like that. Subtle 'cut up vocals' are split aprt by wall breakbeat which surges into Spanish guitar srumming and monkey loops.
'My elastic Eye' is unique and very original track, with it's speaker busting bass growl, and twinky-twonky organ is truely spine tingling.
Beth Orton is back to add vocal's to the dreamy comedown tune 'The State Were In' and shines throughout the song which sounds very Primal Scream.
From there you get the 4/4 beat of Denmark, with it's 'wah wah' guitar and horns, this will be a big club track. Then it's a track which is great but should have been longer, 'Pioneer Skies'. The track builds and builds, and your expecting it to burst into a psychadelic journey, but it just seemingly ends.
But the album makes up for that with breackbeat rock track 'The Test'. Vocals are by the great Richard Ashcroft and is pulsating, uplifting track wich is remmincesent of 'Setting Sun' from the 'Dig Your Own Hole Album.
This album is a must for all Chemical fans, and even for those who need some colour and hedonistic fun in their lives.....Go get it Now
