Dance music mostly suxx, but sometimes it gets it right. October 24, 2006 D. Harris (Wigan, Lancashire, United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There's not much dance stuff I'll listen to, if I tell you my favourite bands inc Dream Theater, Pink Floyd and Sisters Of Mercy, then you'll know this is a genre I usually hate.
But this album, or at least the first CD is highly accesable, there's actually tunes and melodies (heaven preserve us) it's all catchy, easy on the ear, it's motivational as well as soothing.
Other dance music I can tolerate comes from Bent, Faithless, Orbital.. usually stuff that's got some musical quality, and not being played at full whack by all the t@ssers in their shitty lil cars (you know who you are).
No doubt if your an hardened dance fan, your probably reading this and thinking... how can you even pass judgement... well I can because I'm a music fan, and for what it is, I found this highly enjoyable.

I'm not a big fan of dance music, however this album does contain a whole host of good, solid dance tracks that are great to drive to. The high standard of production seeps through into every track, and some fantastic vocalists add to the quality sheen of the album. The type of song is also nicely varied, with hints of soulful r'n'b and latino vibes creeping onto the tracklist to keep the album fresh and highly repeatable.

This two part album (the second disc is a re-mix disc) is full of cool dance anthems. On the original album highlights include the Euro pop-ish Give a Little which is very catchy. Put Em High (featuring Therese) is also one of the better tunes, there are three additional remixes on the remix CD, more than enough possibly! Some of his regular vocalists include Kenny Thomas and Ultra Nate. Therese also features on Take Me Away, another good track (this time with just two more re-mixes on the second CD). There is also the lovely Latin beat Clorophilla (Put A Little Love). Not to mention the funky Gotta Give It Up.
I can't get enough of this....! January 4, 2005 Mr. A. C. Barrett (London, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A superb album which surely deserved to do far better in the charts than it did - but then again chart music buyers never did have much taste...A slow start and strange choice of title track for the album but once you get over that, track 2 - Give a Little featuring Rita Campbell - is utterly stunning from the very begninng with the fluttering synths and deep funky plucked base then with more synths and La Campbell's fantastic vocals this track is pure attitude - if this doesn't make you want to get up and strut your stuff then there's something wrong with you. Put 'Em High featuring the delightfully sexy Therese is of course well documented (this track is a slightly different mix to the version that was released as a single) but still a fantastic floor filler - I certainly put 'em high every time I hear this. Once in a Life Time feating Da Yeene is another super smooth funky disco house number - sharp smacking beats, more fluttering synths, full on production sounds, great hooks - another sure fire stomper. Other highlights includes the crazy A Little Bit Crazy featurng Stella with it's downright dirty fat base line - juicy! Desire featuring Bonnie Bailey is an interesting mix of the usual uber trendy Hed Kandy funky disco sounds mixed in with a bit of Erasure-ish electro pop and some ABBA style string arrangements thrown in for good measure - don't dismiss this track though - the almost euro pop sound fits in well here and provides the listener with a dramatic interlude - as the good lady sings - the surrender is so sweet! Oh go on and just buy this album and play it very very loudly!!
Soulful funky tunes!! October 26, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
