Amazon.co.uk Review Aimed at the dance music enthusiast, Traktor DJ is a nifty DJ mixer that boldly takes Steinberg into the home-audio software market. With its commendably simple and admirably comprehensive design, Traktor DJ's a winner. The software allows two different sound sources to be mixed and melded on any reasonably well-specified PC. In fact it's just like a DJ's two-turntables-and-a-microphone set-up--save that the turntables have been swapped for MP3 files, WAV files and CD audio. Cleverly the software will shift the tempo on either track to suit the other. If you wish you can also bend and warp the pitch as suits your mood. But that's not all: you can change the timbre, boost or drag the frequencies, and strip out any resonances you don't like. You can also create scratch effects, give the audio a vinyl-like crackle, generally fade, loop, cross-fade, equalise and waveform. And, when you've ripped all your own CDs and MP3s, you can, naturally, download some of the 200 minutes of trance, techno, drum & bass and trip-hop already stored on-disk. A would-be Norman Cook setting up his first semi-pro studio might expect to pay hundreds of quid for facilities such as this, however Traktor DJ allows you to cut out the middleman and get groovin' for a whole lot less. --Sean Thomas

Good but.... December 10, 2002 Stephen Buckingham (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This product is superb if you are using XP.However I had ME which causes this software to struggle to operate. I am a dj and I needed this software to be reliable, at first it wasn't, but through up grading, I am happy to use the software and would recommend others to by it. The vinyl elliminator is excellent and effective so if you are and XP user what are you waiting for buy it. If you aren't thenconsider upgrading before you buy this.
A must for all budding DJs! October 25, 2002 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
With Traktor DJ you can mix your own tracks like a pro, and even impress your friends with a set at parties. It's easy to get the hang of, and you can add various effects, scratching, etc. It also comes with some cool tunes from different styles to get you started.
Traktor : the chance to become a digital deejay April 28, 2002 14 out of 18 found this review helpful
traktor dj along with the other software products of native instruments offers de facto the possibility to become a digital deejay!! If you'd like to become a deejay, having a fast pc and a soundcard it's all you need to begin. You don't need any expensive equipment. If you are a professional deeejay, you may find it interesting too. Just consider the possibility not to carry with you all your records and cds. Simply rip all your music into mp3s and you'll have the complete archive in your hard disk. I've been using different mp3 mixing programs, which are rather funny and powerful, but they all suck for usability and reliability. Traktor and MJ Studio (from d-lusion) are the only ones I would recommand for live mixing. Both MJ and Traktor are stable and reliable, Traktor, in addition, offers many more functions for filtering, cueing etc...
