Amazon.co.uk Review Simon Marlin and Max Reich handle effortlessly what other dance producers/DJs so often fail to achieve, namely appealing to mainstream and underground audiences simultaneously. On one hand they hold down credible residencies in Ibiza and London, while on the other they trouble the top ten regularly with infectious disco anthems such as "Lola's Theme", "Back To Basics", and their most recent hit, "Incredible". All these tracks and more like them are included on Sound Advice, the duo's debut long-player. For this reason alone the album will be sought after, but it's good to know they haven't just supported these dancefloor behemoths with weak fillers. Female vocalists such as Cookie, Kelly-Marie Smith, Antigone Foster and Jenna G, plus as Chic's Nile Rogers, give Sound Advice a hugely accessible edge, while the producers offer a rich tapestry that includes not just airy disco balloons but poignant downtempo tracks (opener "You Never Know" and the semi-Balearic "Over Me") and weightier electronic excursions like "If In Doubt Go Out" and "Really Feel". Well rounded and surprisingly engaging throughout. --Paul Sullivan

Lycanthropes Rejoice! May 17, 2006 Rick H (Brighton, UK) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I brought this album purely of curiosity: I'd stopped buying single-artist albums by dance acts some time ago; generally because 90% of them were 'one hit wonders' ie the single was good but the rest of the album stank and you never heard from them again.
With the massive success of "Lola's Theme" and "Back to Basics" my curiosity was piqued but with both tracks being such massive tracks, they were played to death over the summers that each was released and so I was put off the album.
But it would appear that a late release of the album (is Lola's Theme really nearly 2 years old!!?) was an excellent strategy. Not only do both singles sound fresh again, but the rest of this album is pretty hot too.
We played it for the second time last night and we rocked to it - some excellent tracks on here (maybe some are a little "trancey" to be truly called funky house but I'm not gonna split hairs over genres of music) - indeed I would even go so far as to say that I like them all with the exception of track 1.
And I'll even go so far as to say that the mix of "Lola's Them" is excellent and has reminded me about how just a good dance track it is and always will be!
This is an excellent album (to go with the suite of 'House Grooves' albums mixed by Shapeshifters - well worth a look if you like your house fresh and funky) and one that will be played in my house over the Summer - an excellent choice to play as the sun goes down and the creatures of the night come out to play.
4 stars but I'll be generous and give it 5 - Track 1 may yet grow on me!
A complete album May 2, 2006 C. Watt (London) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the first album in a very long time I would call complete. An excellent effort by the artists in my opinion, well done. Sure there is the odd hand bag track but over all the result is an album you will listen to the in its entirety and then press play all over again. Buy this album :)
Not for the funky house listeners... April 10, 2006 Mr. P. Grimbaldeston (Preston) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Hey i just been listening to this album, And i must say this album nearly fully sucks. I gave the album two stars as there were only two tracks that were any good! the first one and the last track!. Yea sure lola's tune is kind of good but no were near as good as the funky house mixe's this version is slow and boring also due to the radio it has certainly killed any vibe i get from that version of the song. If you think this is going to be full of funky house tune's with phat beats! You are sadly mistaken!! to be honest this cd is really bad!! considering how good it could of been...
The Groove Album for 2006! March 31, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After Lola's Theme I have been waiting with bated breath for this album, and it doesn't disappoint! I've only listened to it 3 times through but as yet there is not a single song which I don't like, or don't want to move to! I think this is going to be hot for this summer and definately one to invest in!
Good, sound advice ! March 31, 2006 Darrin (Cambridge, Cambs United Kingdom) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Just had this album bought for me for my birthday and I have to say it's nothing short of fantastic ! I was a little unsure if this album would live up to the first single (lola's theme) but it does, and it's the best album I've heard in a long time. I was particularly impressed with the album version of 'Lola's Theme' it's intro is slick, and much better than the single version. It made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck - a sure sign the track is a winner - along with the whole album !!
