5 out of 5 stars Refreshing change from the Sony Rubbish. Great buy.   February 22, 2007

Originally purchased the Sony CDP-CX355 300 CD Changer, but had nothing but trouble with the unit, and it's replacement. It was rubbish, and so was Sony support! I have had this unit for two weeks now, playing almost non stop on random to test it, and it has been faultless. 10/10 so far.

5 out of 5 stars CD Jukebox   February 18, 2007

Having ordered one ,I liked it so much that I bought another to store most of my CD collection in the two machines sat side by side. It is neater and smaller than a comparable cabinet. The cost is probable not much more than a decent cabinet that can hold 300 CD's anyway. My only negative comment is that you have to log what is in each slot if you need to find something, but I have a program that does that anyway.

4 out of 5 stars A Rather Nice Machine   January 15, 2007

I bought this machine almost on the day it was escaped into Cyprus. My 'massive' CD collection was shown to be paltry and although I could now fill it tomorrow, I am leaving the last 20 slots for the best music ever!! I may do a cull soon and then top up the 301 slots. I invariably play it on random but now and again when I fancy a genre, I will pull out my book and select a disk to play and usually leave it run. That is the point - you have to know what CD is in what slot and it is nice to know what track you wish to play. I rarely use any of the functions such as 20 fave tracks i am a bit told for that - and 'fave' is a bit teenish.

I am very impressed and the only thing that would persuade me to get rid of it was if I was offered a genuine Wurlizer CD conversion. PLEASE that is a hint!!

Dangers: Under loading I think unbalances the machine, Since I have nearly filled it I now think that it runs smoother.

Take care loading CDs. I accidentally loaded two CDs into one slot and the machine jammed up solid with loadsa grinding and crunching. The CD placement arm disengaged and the whole system seized up solid. The case comes off easily - four screws and with the aid of a 16lb sledge....... - sorry! With the aid of a small screwdriver and care the CD turntable was rotated so I could sort out the jam and the arm was re-engaged very easily. I am extra careful now.

Speakers?? I think that you will require a decent amplifier and always, always get the very best speakers that you can afford. Mind you a garbage amplifier sort of negates good speakers.

I love this machine,i have only had it a few days so i have to get to grips with all the functions yet,but just having somewhere to keep all my discs safe and clean and ready to play makes it worth the money alone!Looks great and the sound is superb, all i need now is the matching amp and tape deck and i will be a happy party gal!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent equipment becoming obsolete   February 18, 2006

An excellent item that is useful for starters to store 300 + compact discs. Super build quality and sound to be expected of Pioneer. A number of useful functions but I seem only to use two.
If you hear a favourite track you can add it to your best twenty tracks and the unit will remember them. The other function I generally use most of the time is the random mode. I've managed to fill 193 of the C.D. slots to date and when the unit randomly picks a track from all those you get to hear music that has previously languished in the back of the cupboard. Brilliant idea and like having a 301 CD jukebox. Can't fault it so far.
Anticipate mp3/wma players making it obsolete before too long.
