Summing up the summer with a classic dance selection June 2, 2000 In response to those who thought this was not a good album....Are you mad? There is no comparison to Black Legends and Armen Van Heldens new tunes which are undoubtably the songs of the summer 2000. Listening to this album, no matter where you are, can do nothing but bring a smile to your face and a spring into your step. With one excellent tune after another Pete Tong brings yet another banging dance compilation to my collection which will be looked back on admirably in memory of the summer to come. A must buy!
HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN.... May 7, 2000 Since the triumphant zenith of the Essential Selection in 1998 (purple edition, Essential Selection 1998), Pete Tong's perennial series has waned somewhat. In 1999, the collection was redeemed somewhat by an invariably good CD 2. This time, especially in the light of rival releases, CD 2 has not been so dependably good. In fact, it has been a little weak, lacking the new floorfillers usually present. CD1 as has been the case since the beginning of 1999 is dry and is only for those really enjoy disco house. Spring2000 is not a good release for Tong, but the Essential Selection 1998 (purple) is fabulous and was thoroughly accomplished.
