The best way to spend the summer! April 21, 2007 T. Clarke (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I need not tell you that '99 was "the" year for dance music, and the location? Ibiza! Thankfully, Pete Tong provided us with this album, which blends ridiculously brilliant funky sounds on the first CD, packed with some of the hottest tunes, such as Sing It Back and Get Get Down, while the mix iself starts of with Cascades of Colours - a lovely opening song. CD2 meanwhile has a trance theme, and though has an average start, redeems itself within the second half. The remix of Not Over Yet, the original probably being one of the best dance songs to dropped on an MK 5 (though I have yet to find an album from 99 that has the original!!) is very good, and alot more like the original. The track 'Lies' that follows this is superb and is a typical 90's dance song, while Amber and Fixation follow well. If your fortunate enough to have ordered the 3 disc edition, then you'll love this third mix by DJ Pippi on cd 3. 12 Tracks of pure funk and summer sounding disco that's perfect to chill to in the evenings. Its so refreshing to hear clssic club sounds, and the tracks are all a good length and well mixed. The mixing throughout is smooth and not over done, just as we expect from Tong, and is your looking for a true clubber guide to '99 then this is the album. If your looking for the best summer trance though, Ibiza Euphoria or Gatecrasher Wet will be right up your alley as 2 of the greatest dance albums ever produced. I love summer!
