5 out of 5 stars Pete knew how to prepare for the summer!   June 21, 2007

If the strawberry filled cover isn't enough to make you buy this, looking good enough to eat, then a few listenings of random tracks will make you place an order. 1998 was a standout year for dance music in the summer - Gatecrasher released Black, The Annual vol.4 by MoS provdied a brilliant listening after the dull and chilly vol.3, and Pete Tong released this - his summer selection. Out of all the albums though, only he could provide a true sound of clubbing (hasn't that always been the case? Rarely do you see a track under 5 minutes!)
Magnum Force sets the tone brilliantly with its fast break beat and suspicious rhythm, and you have to give Tong credit for providing variety in his albums, and the next 3 or so tracks mix different beat patterns. Their are too many good tracks to name, but memorable ones for everyone will be the softly sung Looking for Love and the energetic Horny! Needin U is too me a round up track of '98, its classic piano rhythm will always bring back memories of clubbing when it was good - feel good times.
CD 2 has a more pumping, energetic feel to it, with songs like The Ultimate, while Tall Pauls remix of Beachball combines blissfull rhythms with get up and dance beat. This must also be the only album to include the whole 8 minute version of For An Angel too - a milestone perhaps in Van Dyks history. And the remix of El Nino is well worth a listen too - again, clocking in at 8 minutes makes the MoS cut pityful at 1 and a half minutes. The Annual vol.4 is an amazing album, but some cuts are just too short (was Millenium Edition the peak? 23 tracks on 1 disc!)
I never recieved the extra CD, but the first 2 are enough to me. Pete Tong is a true legend, knowing how to produce a fine album, and though his first 2 were extremerly average, this must be his first "excellent" album. If your looking to lose some sweat during the summer, then dance away to this!

5 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!!   December 7, 2002

This is a fantastic CD. If you like dance, you will love it. It's from the better years of dance, 1998. The 2nd CD is the better one. Best tracks here are For an Angel, El Nino, Ultimate and Funk Bomb. But they're all really excellant, except for Vertigo and the last one (skip these).

On CD 1, it's a little bit more commercial. There are remixes of Bootie Call and Freak Me which are OK but they're pop at the end of the day and not very cool. The CD starts out quite chilled out and ups the anty with Horny. Best tracks here are You don't Know, Needin' U and I'll House You. The mixing is spine-chilling in places.

If you want a Cd that will get you going and is a quality dance compilation, and not just repetitive background noise (I'm thinking of GodsKitchen Spring 2002), buy this, if you can.
