I have a CD car changer, and all of the CD slots are reserved for PVD, which include "Out There and Back", "Seven Ways" and "The Politics of Dancing". I haven't changed the CDs for YEARS. Listen to them EVERYDAY! I am completely transfixed! Great to listen to on the drive journey to-from work. This CD is Highly Recommended!

this is an amazing album from start to finish, there are tracks and artists on here that i have never heard of and they are all breathtaking! this is without doubt one of the best compilations of all time!! well worth buying...
 Not up to PVD standard January 13, 2007

While it's very is to be enamoured with everything that Paul van Dyk produces, this mix album is not up to scratch. It might as well be a compilation album, as there isn't really any excellent display or use of mixing here with tracks generally just cross fading into one another.
Track selection is quite often a bit sketchy at best. The first disc is generally more melodic trance with the second one reaching into the realms of hard trance. Quite a substantial few seem to be needless filler. I say needless as most tracks are too short. You are prevented from getting into the 'trance' as a track takes off and then quickly faded out into the next.
There are some good tunes here though. Most notably Guiseppe Ottaviani's 'Linking People' and van Dyk's own 'The Other Side'. Contributions by Lolo, Jose Amnesia, Perasma and a few others are also worthy of mention.
Overall, despite some very nice tunes being on here, the album is let down by a lack of cohesion. Most tracks don't flow nicely into the next and the mixing seems to be done technically rather than artistically. The Politics of Dancing 2 lacks the 'trance journey' feeling of its predecessor and other superior trance mix albums.
Buy if you're a trance fan, not if you're interested in PvD as it doesn't show the man's talent. If you're looking for a good place to jump into trance or PvD, go with the Politics of Dancing 1 or one of his production albums.
Definitely not up to the standard of his previous work. September 27, 2006

Hmmm what can i say about these CDs. I have been waiting for this release for a long time, the previous Politics of Dancing barely left my CD player since they were released - they are a brilliant selection of tunes mixed with passion and soul to make a fabulous double CD set. However, the new release is not. The tune selection various from excellent down to the frankly mundane and predicatable - I feel the vibe only found its feet on the second CD. It really doesn't get anywhere on the first CD, average trance with no soul. Disapointing.

PVD has been in the business for quite a long time now and like many of his contemporaries I had gradually grown used to the fact that his studio career was entering a phase of 'managed decline' - a slow but steady fading of his powers characterised by records (such as 'Reflections') that featured brilliant moments but added up to less than the sum of their parts and communicated an increasingly slight and disjointed sense of artistic ambition.
And then I heard this! Believe every word of the reviews above - this is a sensational, hypnotic piece of work that represents the high point of Van Dyk's career so far and is the archetype of early 21st-century trance music - the perfect synthesis of muscle and melodic beauty.
Sensationally good, and recommended to all.
