The first taster of Oakie's new joint, the mainstream Basement Jaxx meets Deep Dish cut "Faster Kill Pussycat" featuring actress turned singer Brittany Murphy (8 Mile, Sin City), gives every indication that Oakie's album will be a bit of a Bunkka Part Two--and it is. As with the last album, the world's biggest superstar DJ ensures all the right boxes are ticked for maximum crossover appeal, while guests like Pharrell Williams ("Sex 'N Money") and Grandmaster Flash ("Set It Off") help give the album some urban oomph (and some additional street cred of course). The album is also a handy profiler for Oakie's new Perfecto signings, Spitfire ("No Compromise" and "Feed Your Mind") and Ashley from the band Bad Apples ("Vulnerable")--both of whom add reasonable vocal flourishes. The album as a whole is geared towards the dancefloor and takes few, if any, real risks, meaning that though dedicated fans of Oakie will doubtless enjoy it, others may prefer to shun its mainstream aura for something less predictable. --Paul Sullivan

Only one song is good on this CD and that is Faster Kill Pussycat which you can probably listen pretty much every where.Other tracks are just a tad bit musty and bland. Not worth spending your quid. I'd rather buy a fish and chips meal from the local.

Paul Oakenfold, without a shadow of a doubt has been consistantly one of the best DJs in the world over the last 10 to 15 years. His success is sadly one of the downfalls of this album. We all expect something stunning and revolutionary from oakey but this album fails to deliver. What we are left with is something oakenfold fans will undoubtedly enjoy, and something for commercial trance fans, however it does not live upto the expectations of trance purist.
there is really a bad track on the album, very listenable to at any time of the day for any mood, but lacks vigour n determination that albums from the likes of Ferry Corsten. We expect huge euphoric trance but this falls short. times have changed and oakey is moving with them but this is not at the cutting edge. Songs seem a little repetitive but good listening. Remixes floating around in clubs are a treat for the ears.
there is no question oakey is losing his touch, more that albums were never really his thing after being disappointed by Bunkha as well. do not be disheartened though, oakey is still at his best in the mix and with his compilations, and his technique on the decks is as good as ever. worth a buy for trance fans, not pop dance fans, an not for the trance purists out there

I have been a huge fan of Oakey for the last ten years and still consider compilations such as Goa Mix and Fluro some of the finest mix albums of all time. With the release of Bunkka in 2002, Oakey went on to show the world that he was not just one of the world's best DJs and remixers but also a hugely talented producer.
Unfortunately it now seems that Oakey's mind is 'lively' for all the wrong reasons. This latest offering has none of the diversity and expert collaborations that Bunkka included, instead this is a collection of average dance tracks (at best!) and embarrassing collaborations that threaten to tarnish the musical reputations of the likes of Pharrell Williams & Grandmaster Flash.
For any hint of quality, I'd recommending skipping the first half of the album, past the terrible 'Praise The Lord' and onto 'Save The Last Trance For Me' which is remarkably better than the corny title may suggest and emulates the sound that made the man famous. The following tracks 'Not Over' (which I can only assume is some sort of homage to the Perfecto classic 'Not Over Yet' by Grace) and 'Vulnerable' restore some faith that all is not lost, but unfortunately 'Feed Your Mind' sounds like a rejected remix of Sympathy For The Devil.
I can only hope that this is a blip in the career of one of the true pioneers of dance music and that any furture releases will go on to prove that Oakey really is not over yet.

I'll always remember Paul Oakenfold for his classic trance monsters back in the day, but this proves that his production talents aren't limited to one genre.
The predominant sounds on this album are Trance and Indie dance, surprisingly they go well together. To say the least this is a very diverse album, the first few songs are rather rock based whereas the songs in the middle are rather trance based and to finish of there's a variety of tunes with pop rifts and something that sounds fairly apocalyptic.
In some respects this album reminds me a lot of Tiesto's 'Just Be' it has a similar feel to it, but with a different kind of sound.
I would give it five stars however a few of the songs sound rather similar and the collaboration with Grandmaster flash is catchy but a bit rubbish.
A good buy for anyone looking for a new sound blended with some classic beats.
