Massive tune from the trance master July 20, 2002 Mrs. E. Preval (Middlesbrough) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This tune is shaping up to be absolutely massive, whether thats a good thing or not for you. The Tiesto mix is the pick of the bunch, and there are a few available of this. Its an epic journey, with familiar elements that are apparent in most Tiesto mixes of late, the vocal is what this record is all about really cant be overlooked, its beautifully emotive, and if this doesnt bring a tear to your eye you could be accused of being dead inside. Its got a great bass line and the melodies will wash over you like southern sun itself, if your expecting euphoric riffs think again but this is very classy, non cheesy and very Tiesto. Top marks, and a summer anthem without doubt.
Stunning July 3, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Southern Sun is a sublime piece of music. Layered trance vibe with vocals to match. Kind of drifts in and out beautifully. The main chorus has some deliciously spaced out loops and sets the tune off to perfection. The best trance/progressive I have heard for a long time.
New Summer Anthem!!! June 13, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Southern Sun has been hailed by many as the new summer anthem for 2002. I have to say I cant blame them, Oakenfold and Tiesto are playing it alot already in all the big clubs around the world. Both Southern Sun and Bunka are taken from oaky's new ablum "Bunka". Southern Sun is more of a pop track, with powerful vocals by Carla Werner. A very relaxing track to listen to, next Ready Steady go, this track just shows the immense skill Oakenfold has, bring elements of rock, and hip hop, with trance all together in this awesome track. But for the best on this single, the remix which Tiesto and many other DJ's will be spinning this month is the Tiesto Remix. It seems any track that Tiesto remixes, with vocals in it turns out to be brillant, like his massive remix of Silence or Innocente. Tiesto, has just made the vocals so powerful in it, along with many of elements that he has added in, to change this track from a pop song, to a trance track. I doesnt get much better than this. The only thing that disappointed me is that there wasn't the Solar Sun remix of Southern Sun on here, but I suspose thats UK regulations over singles for you. However I would recommend this single to anyone, who listens to pop, Hip hop, or Trance
Just amazing May 19, 2002 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
These tracks are just amazing. Ready steady go, starts you off with a powerful and harder melody that makes ya jus wanna get up and dance! Then southern sun (which i think i prefer...just! its a close call between the two) relaxes you for after the dancin u jus done at the club. this track simply chills me out. The single represents two quality oakenfold style choons. If you like his work, you will love this cd! Buy it now...
