Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
A self-confessed "filmaholic" who often spends afternoons before sets in cinemas the world over, Paul Oakenfold has gone about capturing the sinister, malevolent mood of Dominic Sena's action-crime thriller with careful attention to both art and audience. His weave of cuts such as Dope Smugglaz dark and tense "The Word (PMT Remix)", Lemon Jelly's sunrise chill-out "Kneel Before Your God" and his own retro-electro collaboration with Afrika Bambaataa and The Soul Sonic Force, "Planet Rock (Swordfish Mix)" is smart and evocative, a glistening picture of LA's high-tech underbelly in 2001. Indeed, it's hard not to hear beautiful, wealthy people at gorgeous raves in bathroom stalls somewhere off the Sunset Strip as Oakenfold segues the sleazy "Stanley's Tune" into the neon techno of "Password". Headphones could well be the way to go on initial spins, simply because Oakenfold's mix is spiced with the sort of celluloid nuances and attentions that are big enough to make this different from, say, Perfecto Presents Another World but smooth enough to be enjoyable once properly processed. It's stealthy, imaginative and more varied than a single listen might suggest. --Steffan Chirazi

4 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack!   September 29, 2001

After seeing the film i instantly wanted the soundtrack for the 'club scene' track (Planet Rock) if nothing else. On getting the album i was reminded of how great the rest of the films music was. All the tunes you hear are here and they are all great, no 'inspired by' rubbish (i.e. not in the film). I'm not even normally a very big fan of this type of dance/trance music, or even Oakenfold at all and yet this soundtrack seems so much better than the usual stuff churned out by artists for an easy soundtrack payday. Maybe it's a side effect of making or re-mixing the music to fit the film, but it works and it works very, very well. Get this album right now!

5 out of 5 stars Better than the film   August 6, 2001

Having watched the film on a dodgy DVD bought from my travels in China, I got back to London to be disappointed to not have the soundtrack in full Dolby Digital, however the finnesse of this CD made up for what was lacking with the DVD (even if I got to watch it 1 month b4 it was in Theatres in London. Definite buy for those who want an introduction to the deeper sound of trance. Also recommended is Oakey's Voyage Into Trance CD available on Import.

One of the best soundtracks ever made...the music and style are similar to MATRIX's and the JACKAL soundtracs so if you liked those two you will definitely love this one!!!
