Amazon.co.uk Review He likes to keep it in the family, does Paul Oakenfold. As the label boss of Planet Perfecto records and a dedicated trance producer in his own right, when it came to compiling Perfecto presents... Paul Oakenfold--Travelling, he doesn't appear to have had to look far beyond his own doorstep. No, it's fair to say that ...Travelling hardly casts its net wide, hinging as it does on several Perfecto tunes--the likes of Timo Maas and Jazzy M loom pretty large--and a fair few Oakey-penned compositions: a reworking of Planet Perfecto's podium-storming "Bullet In The Gun", Element 4's Moby-like stadium rave-up "Big Brother" and the intensely psychedelic trance of Bunker's "Decent" (the last, penned alongside fellow programmer Andy Gray). Assuming you can overlook Oakey's seemingly self-indulgent streak of nepotism, this makes for an undeniably consistent collection; even the more obscure choices segue in and out perfectly around cuts from Utah Saints, Dave Kane, and the Timo Maas-reworked take on Azzido Da Bass' "Doom's Night". --Louis Pattison

Useless Album August 22, 2007 Mr. D. T. Cottrell 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After listening to the absolute classic: 2 years of Oakenfold at Cream I was expecting some more of the same. I've had this album years but have never liked it. The music is very difficult to listen to and the other reviewers here must have socks in their ears to be able to listen to this and like it. The other possibility is that they're trying to sell it as I am. It's just a toneless, lifeless monotonous droning sound that just continues throughout the whole album. I prefer dance music with a bit of energy and life to it. I wouldn't recommend it if you like good quality trance music.
The other thing to mention is the ever present obsession Paul Oakenfold has with himself. The album has a total of 32 pictures of the man on every cover of the album! These include cds, booklet, front and back covers. There's only one face which is totally clear of his ugly mug shot - the inlay!
Smooth and energizing. April 22, 2002 In typical Oakey fashion he's crafted a smooth sexy mix that takes you up and holds you there washing over you the whole way through. This is classy trance at its best, a mix you must have in your collection.
Definitely an album you should have in your collection. September 6, 2001 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Although I haven't heard much of CD.1 so can't really comment on that, I constantly listen to CD.2; a really well put together mix by Oakey with some excellent progressive trance tunes. One of the stand-out tunes has to be track 5, the Oliver Lieb mix of Utah Saints' lost vagueness, absolutely awesome! There's also the inclusion of the big tune of the time Azzido da Bass - Dooms Night (Timo Mass mix) which always helps. Perhaps Oakey didn't really need to include his Big Brother tune as it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the CD, but nevertheless a great mix CD and well worth owning.
Oakey does it again! June 3, 2001 This CD is probably the best in my large collection of proggressive/trance/techno mixes. When i have tired of the commercial tracks on the Euphoria compilations (dont get me wrong, those are excellent!) i always come back to Oakey. The mixing is perfect as usual, there is a good selection of deep progressive tracks moving towards some fine trance tunes at the end of CD2 (Jan Johnston's Flesh, can't wait for the album!) This is pure perfecto quality that hasnt aged a bit since release! Check out the Global Underound series for more of this. But for now, use your hand to move the curser up to the top of the page and add this to your shopping basket. Fantastic stuff!
He's the man, but he's done better. January 16, 2001 I'd like to echo the sentiment that this album is a slight let down. Gone are some of the progressive trance roots and the whole album feels a lot more commercial. It's not in the same league as the Global Underground New York album.
