Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Of all the genres within electronic music, trance probably gets the worst rap. The music is guilty by association with the hippies that worship it with a religious-like fervour. And if executed poorly, its dramatic crescendos sound like pretentious, pompous pap. But a good trance DJ can save a string of the genre's records from falling down the drain of all-too-common gargantuan breakdowns and endless wind-ups. Paul Oakenfold might be the DJ to rescue trance from itself; Tranceport features a veritable who's who of trance records and producers--Sasha's remix of Gus Gus's "Purple", a few tracks from seminal trance producer Paul van Dyk, and the driving, impenetrable "Enervate" by Transa. Oakenfold's mixing is impeccably suited to trance: long, drawn-out bleeds of sound seep from one transcendent track to the next. --Tricia Romano

5 out of 5 stars An album for historians of music to remember   March 29, 2004

Some time in the future your kids will ask: "Mummy/Daddy - what is Trance?" This is album you will dust off and put into the antique piece called a CD player.

Seminal album - defining not only a genre, but also a time.

i've only really been a trance fan since 1997, but this is why. The songs on this CD are amazing and the way in which they have been mixed is not bad either. People often use 'uplifting trance' as a coloquial term, to me this is the definition of it. The songs are tinged with emotion whilst keeping a certain pace and energy about them which makes you want to listen to them again and again. Would recommend this CD for any trance fans collection as i would recommend Paul van Dyk's total back catalogue. He sometimes plays the same style music as Oakenfold but it is his creations that are worth paying out for: in this case the enchanting 'words'

I have been heavily interested in the dance scene since 1990. Over the last few years I have become disenchanted somewhat with some of the commercial rubbish that is being released. Tranceport however captured my interest from track 1, and I must say is the Best Oakenfold Trance CD, on general release that I've had the pleasure of hearing. Oakenfold at his very best!

Of all the Global Underground-esque discs that I have, this is quite literally my favourite. Solid joyful trance all the way through that I just cannot get enough of. Highly, highly recommended.
