Amazing October 31, 2008 T. Clarke (UK) I use this mixer every week in university, and I can only wish it was cheaper... What a stunning piece of kit! I use a DJM500 at home, but it simply doesn't compare. Aside from the fact it has more control over effects and mixing techniques than any other mixer, the sound quality is top notch; as is the effects processor, with a crisper flanger than previous models, and a new digital display that makes things easier to read, and can display text etc.
The top fascia is a glossy surface, so you can wipe away grease and dirt. Even the knobs light up in the dark, and the faders/switches have been stiffened further.
It's easy to overkill on the effects, but this all depends on what genre of music you play. I play tech-house, and so the Phaser is ok to use now and again, but think again if you're going for more natural percussion sounds. The the filter is also fantastic - probably better than the ones found on Allen and Heaths!
The only change I'm not too fussed over is the crossfader, which is a bit stiffer the previous models, and so if you crab it while scratching, you won't be able to flick it over to the other deck as quickly of easily as say the 500/600.
We all agree this is the best mixer we've used; Allen and Heaths are pretty much standard in the clubs around here, so it's a joy to use this during the day. It has to be said that their is very little difference between this and the 700; as far as I can remember, it's only a number of effects. But theirs little in the price, so I'd say go for this - you won't regret it!

What can I say? This mixer is incredible. This for me takes the crown from the DJM600 as the industry standard club mixer. As with the former, the excellent range of sound effects are still there, but Pioneer have added four 'sound colour' effects. These can be used in conjunction with the beat effects and are automatically linked to the BPM of the source of music. The effects can also be chopped - eg 1/16, 1/8, 1/4 etc etc to produce some mind-blowing effects in sync with whatever you are playing.
The mixer has a solid, robust feel to it and the sound quality is superior to the DJM600. In total there are over 50 effects and these can be manipulated with ease using the sturdy, tactile time and depth control knobs. The mixer has a somewhat future-proof quality and although it's been around for a couple of years, I suspect that because it's so advanced, it will still be a top contender for many years to come.
A quick word of advice. Some of the reviews that I've read suggest that the mixer automatically mixes in key for you. C'mon - it's not human!! You still have to learn this process yourself, through arduous trial and error. However, once you have the basics, the DJM800 can certainly aid you, as it has the ability to change the key of a track, without altering the tempo.
All in all this is an attractive looking, solidly-built mixer, jam-packed with innovative features and I can't recommend it enough!
