Entry-level access to New Order May 26, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For the casual fan that "likes the singles", this is an excellent way to get your ears around one of the few good things to come out of the 80's.All the classics (Blue Monday, True Faith, Temptation, Crystal etc.) will keep the true fans happy as the only real chronological singles collections (save Substance), and any dancey rock kids that love the likes of Something of a Paradox, Primal Scream, Doves etc. will no doubt be hooked on New Order from the moment they hear it.
They're here to stay... December 30, 2002 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Another New Order compilation, I know. At the same time as Retro Box Set, I know. With only fourteen songs, that's true. But what songs...this record compiles the full-length versions (much better than the single versions in this case) of 10 classic songs (from "Blue Monday" to "Round & Round"), and 4 excellent 90's songs: Regret(1993, from the album Republic), Crystal and 60MPH (from the album Get Ready, 2001) and their last single "Here to Stay", included in the Michael Winterbottom's film 24 Hour Party People (2002). This is an excellent opportunity to own a great selection of songs of one of the most important and talented band ever. Obviously, this is only a compilation (naturally incomplete). If you want to know more about New Order go and buy this record, and 1989's Technique, and 1985's Low-Life, and all New Order records. Beginning with this record is ok, but soon you will want more.
