Ok so gatecrasher has produced yet annother album with a load of classics on it. Why is this? because actually in europe at least the trance scene is actually far from dead people like ATB lasgo and Ian Van Dahl are still producing stuff theres even a new version of braveheart by DJ sakin and friends anyone here heard it? thought not lol.
One of the reasons though that gatecrasher are getting like ministry is because ministry of sound actually are now responsible for the gatecrasher brand (if I can call it that) and for ministry the dance scene is shifting towards the funky side of house.
Anyway the album. Ive only given it 3 stars because at least some effort has been made to include new stuff and I suppose they need to fill 3 CDs. Sad I know but Sadly true.
hmmm was expecting better November 11, 2007 S. Cutler (london uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
its a real shame alot of the old tunes that we already have in a pile of stacked cd's under the bed just in a new mix and its a bit of a dull mix really, no flashback athems at all and nothing the other big "ooo look this is old school" dance labels havent done already.
if i were youi would go for a dj sonique club mix if this is your type of house.
just a shame
Yawn.......... oh, is it another album? September 28, 2007 FROG! 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Why do they insist on producing these pointless albums with the same tracks OVER and OVER again?? Gatecrasher are almost as bad as Ministry now - I never thought I'd say that back in '99!
Something Old, Something New September 25, 2007 Dale Connolly (Leeds, UK) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've read some of the other reviews and I can't help but comment on the way one review complains that CD1 is the "same old classic's" and CD's 2 & 3 are "some unknown Underground trance..."?
What's basically being suggested is "why don't gatecrasher bring out something new"?
Well, isn't that what CD's 2 & 3 are doing?? yet they are then criticised for not being the most recognisable classic tracks...? While CD 1 is criticised for containing recognisable classics? No Win Situation??
CDs 2 and 3 Mixed by Matt Hardwick and Judge Jules contains so many tracks which are imminently going to be future classics which are being heard in club's throughout the country. A tune can't come out and instantly be labeled a classic... It takes time... Think Anthem by Filo & Peri... it's destined to be a classic and you just can't escape that track (not that you'd want to!)
Anyway......
I was at Magna in Rotherham this Saturday just gone for Crasher's 14th Birthday and it literally blew my mind... I actually bought the CD at the event on Sunday morning as I was leaving Crasher for the drive home at 6.15am...
I enjoyed Jule's set the most on the night so I banged on Disc 3 and it brought it all back... It gives you that tingling sensation everytime you recognise a tune you banged it out to on the night.
I suppose you may look at my review and think the CD is only worth having if you went to Magna, which is not what i'm suggesting...
If I'd had the CD before, I'd still appreciate the music on the CD, I can't name one track that I skip when it comes on...
So Cheers Gatecrasher for the memories!
