Definately one to keep you sane in this mad world! April 25, 2003 There's been some mention that the second disc is a bit on the fast side, it is - but I still find I can just lay back and let these tracks flow over me leaving me feeling relaxed, chilled and refreshed. There are some excellent tracks on here, and I love the way Ministry compilations mix from one track to the next, thus allowing you to completely immerse yourself in the wonderful sounds coming from your stereo.I'm lucky enough to be allowed to listen to music at work, and this album really helps me beat the stresses of the day. These are modern chilled sounds, they're not hard house or too thumping on the bass to be able to relax to even though they're dance tracks. And it's a great album to wallow in the bath to!! Can't wait for the next sunny day in the garden sharing this with my neighbours! If you like dance and like to let the music flow around you, this is a great buy, if you prefer your chillout sounds *very* chilled I'd stick to disc 1 or buy one of the classical chillout albums. But for it's genre I think it's one of the best.
Decent but by no means Chillout... July 20, 2002 Erik Rozman (Netanya Israel) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
With my experience with Ministry chillout compilations I had a feeling this is going to happen...the first CD is pretty laid back but the second CD is high tempo all the way(nothing extreme but you can't call this chillout). There is a decent selection of tracks but don't expect to chill with these CDs...
The Chillout Session Ibiza 2002 June 13, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Although heavily laden with synth sounds, which could be thought of as a throw back to the Eighties, this album brings together the essentials for an afternoon's sitting out on the patio or up in your bedroom. The songs merge into one another, which on hearing for the first time, added to the evocative idea of time slowly drifting by, but on hearing for about the fifth time, begins to get slightly irritating, as it seems like there is no beginning or end to the songs. I think the strongest songs on the album are the most well known: Romeo, At Night, Another Point of View and Lazy. The rest just seemed to add to the monotonus ocean and beach beats. However for a chilled out day or night at the beach (preferably somewhere hot like Spain), or with your mates in your conservatory, it makes the ideal accompaniment.
Bland, Boring, overslick & outdated. May 20, 2002 12 out of 19 found this review helpful
This album is truly dire. I've listened to it quite a number of times, & it epitomises the boredom and lack of direction inherent in the mainstream "chillout" genre at the moment. Some of the tunes on here are excellent (the 4Hero remix is an utter classic for a start), but they struggle to overcome the company they've been put in. Many of the tunes have a bland air-esque sound, which you'll have heard many many times before. Others feature that 'soft commercial trance' sound favoured by Faithless. Speaking of Faithless, there are several tunes associated with them on here, a couple featuring the truly wack Maxi Jazz; surely one of the worst MC's in the music business.A tired & cynical marketing exercise, this compilation has been put together with a piggybank where it's heart should be. If you really want to chill out, check Jan Jelinek, or just head back to the Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld.
Lose yourself in music May 13, 2002 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
You literally will stop whatever you are doing and just listen, its that good. Disc1 has some fantastic blissed out choonz, but its disc two that really makes the head nod. From well know songs like Lazy and Beautiful, to less known but equally brilliant music from Jam&Spoon (Stella) and even the music from the Levi's ad (Freedom to Move). This'll be the best thirteen-odd quid you'll spend this year.
