A weak starter, ends up OK. September 17, 2001
The album's first disc is mixed by Madison Ave., in which they put together a funky club vibe. The track selection for the first few tracks creates a mundane mix at a constant tempo; it isn't until Madison Ave.'s own track "Don't Call Me Baby" is mixed in that the tempo starts to pick up. The mix hits an excellent string of hits that include Artful Dodger - Re-Rewind The Crowd Say Bo Selecta, Basement Jaxx - Jump-N-Shout, and Moby - Bodyrock (Olav Basoski's Da Hot Funk Da Freak Funk Mix), with the Basement Jaxx track being the climax to the mix.The album really gains stream on the second disc, mixed by Sean Quinn. He creates a Progressive House mix that is never dull, from the first track, Azzido Da Bass - Dooms Night (Timo Maas Remix) to the last track, Kamaya Painters - Endless Wave (Original Mix). This album is only deserving of 3 stars because of the sloppy track choice of the first disc, more is to be expected from Ministry of Sound releases. Thankfully Sean Quinn saves this album with an entertaining mix. If you are a Sean Quinn fan would definitely check this album out, otherwise I would pass on it, and possibly pick up the Summer Annual 2001.
