One of the best mixed MoS annuals, the best Ibiza Annual by far, and many other things! November 15, 2005 T. Clarke (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've often reviewed older albums and compared them to the newer ones, and once again, it seems that dance albums from over 7 years ago can still out do todays fancy commercials, and over marketed trash. This was the first Ibiza Annual, and though 2000 was excellent too, this is by far the best, simply because it actually has the sounds of Ibiza without the cheese or eurotrash of pop music. The classic layout is used - both cd's starting with some funky house, and ending alot more up tempo and up beat. Its great to hear an Annual that actually captures "Ibiza" music, rather than cheesey euro trash as found on later Ibiza annuals after 2001. Burnin' is one of my favourites - a more up-beat version of the original disco tune, and the massive hit Cafe' del Mar is here of course, as well as El Nino. Its hard to say which are the best songs, because their all so good! Its such a feel good album thats perfect for partys, or even the pool side - as pretty much suggested by the album cover. It has such character that you feel each song was simply made for the album, not just chucked in because it's a hit. And because of this, its yet another one of my favoured albums for the summer, and is always on when i'm in the garden. Classic songs like Burnin' made it appeal to the older audience, and although i'm grown up now (shame really!)even my parents still love the album, because it reminds of the 90's, and has some more disco based songs. Top marks MoS! Shame the '99 album didnt take advantage of 'the' year for trance, but The Annual 2000 may have just made up for that - excellent. But of course, this is just as much of a classic. And its REAL ibbiiizzaa!

This CD is probably one of the best so far from Julesy...He never ceases to amaze me.You will not forward one tune on this CD. Serious dance...TURN UP YOUR STERO, SIT DOWN, AND LISTEN.
