The summer of '98 - what a smooth annual! July 19, 2006

This Annual really stands out from the others in my view. It not only characterized the wicked summer '98, but really had such a large variety of songs - from the incredibly uplifting and classic sounding 'Brimful of Asha' that brings back memories of school days, but classic trance songs like Chicane's incredible 'Strong In Love', and the fun 'Gangster Trippin' by good ol' Fatboy Slim - a time when yes, this genre of music was included in Annuals, unlike today where its all just kiddy house music and just absolutley no variety. I guess MoS have forgotten that The 'Annual' does actually mean something in music terms..
I think the album stands out again 'cause the 2 cd's are very simialr - unlike most other annuals that had a house and trance cd. But due to the variety of sounds, theirs a mix of funky house, trance, break beats, and well.. other sounds spread across the 2 cd's! But cd 1 has the most orginization with funky house, ending with classic trance tunes. It would take too long to list all the clasics here, but believe me - their here! And the mix of El Nino is fantastic.
Cd2 has the most variety, starting with 2 unique songs that wouldnt even get a mention in todays market. And with some trance tunes slotted in the middle, the album ends smoothly with Beat goes on, and then the more rappy sounding Jungle Brother.
I'd definately reccomend this to anyone who remembers the 90's in style. The mixing is totally unique from Boy George, and its a shme dj's like himself are now gone from MoS's albums. But if you have the oppurtunity to get your hands on this, dont miss out! This is the way Annuals were, and should be!

What a good album, You cant fault the mixes at all. You know a good album when memouries stay with you about the album and memouries of putting this on at a new year party 1998 and everyone getting blown away stick with me likeit was yesterday. This album is like the intro to the greatest year of dance 1999 and what an intro it is!

This double album was one of the most popular compilations of 1998. I bought the double CD's back then and still very much enjoy listening to them today - one of the best Ministry of Sound Albums released.
