Product Description The Eee PC is a highly functional, versatile and user-friendly computer, that everyone will have no problems using. Indeed, with fast boot-up time, it can be switched on and operated like any electrical appliance. The Eee PC is the realization of what computing was always meant to be - universally accessible in its simplicity, empowering in its functionality. The Eee PC achieves this through a special combination of features that ASUS has assembled in this new platform that, in furthering the information revolution, has the potential to change the lives of many. The Eee PC is a fully-functional productivity tool, its processing capability also makes it eminently suited for computing purposes. In addition, not only is the Eee PC equipped with full wireless connectivity, it also features integrated webcam and microphone so that activities like video conferencing is truly wireless and fuss-free. While the Eee PC is a fully-functional Internet tool, its multimedia capability also makes it eminently suited for entertainment. Store, view and listen to videos, images, music, ebooks or update blogs, uploade photos and videos online - the Eee PC juggles learning, work and play with equal flair. At first glance, the Eee PC looks like a notebook, only smaller, at around half the size of a conventional notebook. Despite its size, it offers rich communication features. The Eee PC can be configured to either display a simple user interface for first-time PC users, or full desktop mode for greater functionality. It is also compatible with Windows XP. Not only is the Eee PC highly compact, it is also very robust. The solid state disc (SSD) design uses Flash storage that can handle all kinds of shocks and bumps on any journey. It is also very lightweight, at less than 1kg. The Eee PC is hence an excellent travel companion, a powerful, robust and much more reliable information tool that can be deployed freely in the daily environments.

Deeply disappointed October 28, 2008 Three Chord Trick (Ireland) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Agree with three other reviewers. Bought this as a vital work machine for a trip abroad on the back of ecstatic reviews on other sites. Apart from its neat size, it has proved deeply disappointing. First of all, the battery life is shockingly bad: two hours at best. Second, it proved really difficult to save from memory sticks or to transfer info. I worked entirely off the memory stick in the end. Third, the wireless pick up doesn't always work - usually when you needed a password. Fourth, it wouldn't take my photos, as I had hoped, forcing me to buy extra memory cards. While away, I had to work on the memory stick via the machine and then transfer to a Mac (if I was lucky enough to get on it) to send my work home. Not ideal when you are supposedly on holiday and could do without the stress. PS: I do like the penguin slalom game!
Do not buy October 2, 2008 Mr. Paul Clark 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Do not buy this machine - this is the slowest thing I have ever come across. I have susbequently seen other reviews on the web which point the finger at the mega slow 16GB disk that is the problem.

I have seen a few mixed reviews for this PC so thought Id add mine. Yes the keyboard is small and yes the battery life is not great, I manage to get under two hrs from mine with brightness up and WiFi on. However on the plus side - the keyboard has a good feel and is perfect for emailing and the usual facebook etc. The screen is crisp and clear and great for watching films and surfing whilst away from home. Webcam is very good and as Skype is already installed it works out the box! I didnt bother reading the instruction manual, Ive not seen linux before but the interface couldnt get much simpler. Speed wise is fine and should not be a concern if thinking of purchasing. One point to note, on the 701 most webpages do not fit widthways and so to the user needs to scroll sideways which is painful without an external mouse, with the 900 the whole width of the page fits on the screen and this alone makes spending the extra money worthwhile. Overall I would say this is a perfect 2nd pc, it does exactly what it was designed to do. For emailing, surfing, writing shortish docs or spreadsheets or keeping in touch when away it is an ideal tool.

ASUS Eee PC 900 WF001 Netbook, Linux Preloaded, 1GB RAM, 16GB SSD (White) Three keys things have spoilt the experience of this product for me. 1. The battery life is dreadful. I've managed 1.5 hours with low light and no wi-fi. Otherwise, it's 40 minutes!! 2. The instructions are so bad that they are pointless. I have some experience of pc's albeit limited, but children/older non computer people would be lost. 3. Sudoku has failed after just 5 days - I can no longer load the game. Ok - so maybe there's a way around it, but it's such a pain. If it wasn't that I'm still quite excited to have such a little 'computer' in my bag for whenever I want it, provided I have the leads and an electricity supply that is, I would have given it a 1 star rating. I'm glad I've got it but it's hard to enjoy.
