 Good machine - but not for me November 1, 2008

Pretty decent kit, I got it for a bargian at 338.99 as an opened, returned product which originally retailed at amazon for around 380 I think.
The screen is great, boots pretty fast (half the time you don't need to boot it as the sleep/wake fuction works brilliantly.
RAM, harddrive is perfect for the average user, the screen is probably a little too big, the extra size means that it's heavier and therefor less portable than what I would have desired.
The colour of the chassis is a letdown, it looks quite cheerful and uplifiting on the stock photo, in actual fact it's old and dated beige colour that was standard in early 2000.
Thankfully the screen colour is OK.
I would have wanted to return this item, pay a bit more and get a system with a smaller screen and more powerful specs, unfortunately I ended up not doiung so given the time I spent configuring the system and installing software and user files, and the shipping cost which would incur if I were to post it back to the seller.

Just received this a few days ago, so still testing out. Impressions so far is that this model is great value for money. I am not very technically minded (to say the least) and I found it incredibly easy to set up). The screen is a great size, the speed when connected to the net, is also very impressive. The colours displayed are phenominal. It is more lightweight than some other 17 inch models I have viewed. It does all that is necessary.
MINUSES: It could have a more sylish keyboard/fascia, but is that really important?? having a little problem with sticky keys at present. may be due to the layout of the keyboard and the speed I type at so the jury is still out whether I need to have it seen to, At present the sound isnt very loud despite the super woofer etc., but this could well be due to my incompetance and I am awaiting my sonss expertise. the inbuit keypad is well designed and slick - this computer could come with more useful programmes and fewer that are not needed (and I have yet to learn what they are for!) and would have been great to have word/office but I believe that most models only have them on trial basis !
If you want a good basic model to surf the net on, with a good large screen to view then buy this one you wont be dissappointed especially with the price tag! I also purchased the extended warranty that comes with a bag and mouse - 3 years worry free for 47 a true bargain especially since it is collect and return!!!
If you are more into watching dvds/playing games await my verdict on the sound system (I will post again once looked at by an expert which I am not!)
Otherwise I would highly recommend. I looked around for ages and truly feel I made the right choice at the right price.
By the way I opted for the "slower" free delivery - I was lucky and received this item within 4 days which I felt was really impressive. Amazon is a great retailer to deal with. Good luck!

I bought this laptop for my daughter a short time ago. We are both delighted with it. Very well built, very good to look at, easily set up, instant connection to our wireless router, no problems with Vista, and also some useful Acer laptop management software too. Big hard disk, nice wide screen. Excellent value for money. The machine just went beautifully straight out of the box. What more could you ask for at this price?

After agonising over which Laptop to buy, after the demise of my PC, I chose the ACER 7720Z on price and spec. I preferred Amazon to Acer Direct based on my past experience of Amazon and I wasn't dissapointed.I paid for next day delivery to my place of work and sure enough it arrived before 10:00 am the next day.Also purchased a Belkin router which arrived as promised also.Although new to Vista and wireless - set-up was easy and sorted first time.I'm delighted with the service from Amazon and the product is great. Multi-tasking is a breeze and I can now listen to music, dart around Google Earth and have other applications open all at the same time - not unique but a quantum leap for me.Look and feel of the laptop is robust (should be at 3.4kg), a great screen and reasonable sound. The unique ACER features are good with quick views of performance status, power supply status etc. All in all a good product and compares well with similar units at 500.
