Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Wireless-G is the upcoming 54Mbps wireless networking standard that's almost five times faster than the widely deployed Wireless-B (802.11b) products found in homes, businesses, and public wireless hotspots around the country - but since they share the same 2.4GHz radio band, Wireless-G devices can also work with existing 11Mbps Wireless-B equipment. The new Wireless-G Notebook Adapter from Linksys has both standards built in, so you can connect your notebook to existing 802.11b infrastructure, and also the new screaming fast Wireless-G networks. The included Setup Wizard will walk you through configuring the adapter to your network's settings, step by step. Then just slide it into your notebook's PC Card slot and enjoy network access with your notebook computer, while retaining true mobility.Once you're connected, you can keep in touch with your e-mail, access the Internet, and share files and other resources such as printers and network storage with other computers on the network, wherever you wander. At home, you can surf the web or use instant messaging to chat with friends while sitting out on the patio. You'll also be able to connect with any of the growing number of public wireless hotspots springing up in coffee shops, airport lounges, hotels and convention centers. And as those hotspots upgrade to the new high-speed Wireless-G standard, you'll be ready to take advantage of the increased speeds.Get connected to current-standard 802.11b networks today, and be prepared for the future with the Wireless-G Notebook Adapter from Linksys.

5 out of 5 stars Reliable and easily installed   January 9, 2007

Easy to install and configure and very reliable. The adapter comes with its own software which it uses in preference to the standards windows software (which is disabled), but that hasnt proved problematic and I am still able to connect to other wireless networks okay. If you already have a Linksys wireless router, then stick with linksys adapters - it just works out easier in the long run when you want to change all of your configurations.

5 out of 5 stars Works perfectly well   June 4, 2006

I had a mixed feeling when I ordered this adapter particularly when I have to install it to an old laptop running Windows ME. Gladly I did, I managed to get this Linksys notebook adapter to work perfectly well with my BT Broadband 2091 Router using the WPA key. My two other computers (Windows XP) are currently using netgear WG111 and WG111T are also using the same router. It is easy when you know how.

2 out of 5 stars Not as flexible as you might think...   March 7, 2006

I was told you get what you pay for, so I bought one of these as they're not the cheapest out there, so it should be good.
However, if you want this to work with a BT supplied router, then prepare for a battle.
The software supplied will only accept a hexadecimal key, so if you router is set up for ASCII, then unless you know how to configure a new router (And I didn't) then you'll need to get phone support.
And don't get me started on the Linksys Tele-support - you'd get more support from Charlie Dimmocks bra.

When it eventually works, it's very good, but unfortunatley that's marred by a poor service and inflexible software.

Verdict: If your walking down the road, and this card is coming the other way - cross over.

5 out of 5 stars Works Great   July 19, 2005

Always trusted LinkSys products, which is why I chose their 54G notebook adapter when I setip my wireless home network. Setup was VERY easy, as Windows XP has it's own set of drivers for this item you only had to plug it in, wait a minute while the Windows New Hardware Wizard did it's thing, and then it was installed - there was't even any need to use the CDROM that came with the adapter! I did try and install the software on the LinkSys CDROM, but afterwards the adapter failed to work and I got a 'Runtime' error because obviously the software clashed with the software Windows used to install it. So I simply removed the LinkSys software and let Windows use it's own drivers etc and everything works great. Remember that if you buy this item and you run XP, don't bother with the included installtion CD because Windows should be able to install it itself. Of course, if your Windows version doesn't automatically install then use the CDROM. But that would be obvious right? :) That should be the only problem you might experience with this product, and it was very easily resolved. Buy it.
