If you've ever wondered how music moved from the melodic romances of the early 20th century to the electronic landscapes of hip-hop, breakbeat, trance and so on, this is the album to know. From the lads who later produced hugely influential (and much-sampled) electronic albums, this album exposes the creative process as it was forming, the mixture of strong melodies, meandering rifs, experimental instruments (early synths... cutlery... a chair), and thematic development all providing commentary on what the group refer to as their "work". You'll bop... you'll chill... you'll certainly understand more about where all this came from. The naivety of some tracks is touching, the inventiveness of others points to regions still unexplored today.
