Amazon.co.uk Review
It's all here. Every track you've lost it to, found it through and bed-danced along with is gathered for this Ministry offering from superstar DJs Judge Jules and Tall Paul. The Annual is the best-selling dance series of all time, making dance music history by featuring in the Guinness Book of Records. This edition is bursting at the seams with the year's most mesmerising records. Judge Jules takes the helm of CD1, unleashing a seamless mix with Fatboy Slim's stunning "Sunset (Bird of Prey)". He delivers a treasure chest of dance-floor gems including Spiller's number one smash "Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)", Fragma's "Toca's Miracle" and Zombie Nation's storming "Kernkraft 400". Meanwhile on CD2, Tall Paul fuses funky house with relentless trance anthems. Club classics like "Lady (Hear Me Tonight)" from Modjo, Madison Avenue's "Don't Call Me Baby" and Chicane's "Don't Give Up" are contrasted with Storm's "Time to Burn" and Darude's "Sandstorm". As the Ministry itself puts it: The Annual 2000--one year one album. --Mary Anna Wright

5 out of 5 stars Still to be beaten!!   February 10, 2007

7 years later and STILL a better M.O.S annual is yet to be released in my honest opinion. Not one tune on there won't get you dancing away! I can't recommend this one enough. Absolute quality!

5 out of 5 stars The end of an amazing era, and the start of a poor one...   January 18, 2006

I almost feel upset when listening to this album. Strange it may seem - its just an album. But the truth is, this was the last annual to be mixed by DJ's, and the last to have a hard-back cover. It was the end of an era where the club, Ministry of Sound, actually had pride. And i'll admit, this may not exactly be completely free of commercial songs, but oh what a difference a year makes, when compared to the efforts in The Annual 2002, as the "brand" declined...
As ever, both cd's start off with songs that are a little off beat to get the mood going. Bird of Prey was a perfect choice for CD1, because as you'll soon realise, this is a true summer album! Groovejet is the real kickstart for the album, and mixes well into Bird of Prey as Judge Jules mixes a blend of funky house with some of the top ibiza tunes, as seen in their efforts of The Ibiza Annual 2000 (which is amazing I must say). Their are obvious choices on this cd, which is where the commerciality comes into it, with songs like Zombie Nation - Kenkraft 400 (their always the most annoying!) and Sandstorm on CD2 which, although is good, was I feel played to death. Julesy ends the cd with the vocal version of 'Toca Me', which was called Toca's Miracle, though I feel the original sounded alot better, and after sees the brilliant Love Shy remix, which sounds almost magical! Ferry's Mix of Revelation is a good one too.
Tall Paul does a good job on CD2, which was pleasing to hear after his dodgey afforts in 99. The layout is similar to Cd1, except with a few more unique tracks (its always the way - the Judge gets his hands on the best songs!), with the likes of Koochy - a sampled version of 'Cars' by Gary Newman, and Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad, the remix of Mobys great tune. The albums ends as ever quite mellow on Hudson Street and Tell Me Why, mixed smoothly.
I can't praise this album enought for being essential for the summer. But its just a shame it ended here for the non-commercial annuals. 9/10 - would have got 10 if they had left out a couple of annoying tracks!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Annual! Shame they are no longer like this!   October 21, 2003

This annual is one of the best Annuals released by Ministry. It is also the last good one they released since the Steve Caneuto Revolution (He is now mixing the UK Ministry Of Sound CD's using a Computer!!!) The tracks are great ranging from Spiller to Santos and Hi Gate, Delerium to Zombie Nation and Toca's Miracle on Disc 1 and Sonique to Madison Avenue to Darude and Storm on Disc 2. The mixing is fantastic which is what you expect when you have the names Judge Jules and Tall Paul on the front. Steveo please allow decent DJ's to mix the Annual 2004 or whatever its going to be called.

2000 was undoubtedly another memorably year for dance music. All the top tunes from then can be found on here, and there are far too many to mention.

Another year, another MoS Annual. Unfortunately the years have not been kind to this series and each year it seems to become blander. This is a shame because some of the past Annuals were rather good (1 & 4 particularly). On the plus side the track choice is covers all the years big tunes and is OK, if completely lacking in any surprises and as usual the packaging is excellent. On the minus side the mixing is bizarre with the musical styles seemingly jumping all over the place. Were Judge Jules and Tall Paul really involved in this? Overall this does the job of rounding up the year adequately enough but if you really want a CD of this type then I would recommend going for Cream Anthems instead. It's got alot of the same tracks featured here but the mix is better and you might actually discover something from 2000 that you missed.
