Amazon.co.uk Review Compilations of this kind featuring artists of the moment such as Paul Van Dyk, Oliver Lieb and Michael Moog pick at the difference between music for your stereo and music for the DJ. Almost every track in this double-CD box set was a monster club hit in 1999--designed for late-night sessions and dancefloor pressure. Although Judge Jules is a technically proficient mixer and avoids the monotony of most 4/4 tech-trance with a few masterful tempo changes, at home they sound pretty much the same from track to track. Even those that begin with complex layers of shimmying house and soul segue into furious "trance nation" explosions. From Basement Jaxx's "Jump 'n' Shout", this very cutely packaged collection really begins to ignite a powerful groove, moving away from the bland, bouncing, grinning rhythms of trance to funk things up with ragga and electro. A few songs are worth being played over and over again especially "That Sound", "Back to the Funk" and "Feeling this way", but the full intoxicating power of a track like "Iguana" won't be apparent unless you're in a pulsating room with a few hundred gyrating strangers burning up the dancefloor. --Felix Obi Zuze

Pure Class January 8, 2002 I am writing this review a long time after it was first released because i have just started to listen to it again. After first thinking the thoughts of most of the reviews here i have now completely changed my mind. CD1 is full of classy house tunes which a Dj would b proud to play in his set.The mixing flows really well, showing jules skills. CD2 is the trance/techno cd and is good, if u play it loud and it feels like you are in a club. Very good buy.I would buy just for CD1, unlike most of the other ppl here.
Judge Jules: the paradigmatical dance legend. March 29, 2000 Judge Jules does it again on another MOS album but for my money this one is the best for a while. Disc one: full of mellow vocals and ambient house. Disc two: Wicked trancy tracks, stick it on before you go out and you'll be well up for it, just in time to stick Disc one on when you get back to chill out. Brilliant album, just makes you wanna be with all the other smiley people!
Disc 2 Great, Disc 1 Awful. March 2, 2000 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Disk 2 has some great tracks and hasn't been out of my player since i bought it. Disk 1, on the other hand, is appalingly bad. Lots of nothingy tracks. 5 stars for D1, and 1/2 star for D2
ALMOST February 29, 2000 After listening to Disk I was very dissapointed. There are maybe 2 decent tracks on the whole disk. But Disk 2 makes the purchase worth while, a nice mix of uplifting house and trance. I've listened to the disk 5 times over and can't wait to listen to it again. My opinion: leave disk 1 where you found, it put disk 2 on and get ready for some awesome tunes.
Disappointing! February 22, 2000 susan.dickson@roche.com (Milton Keynes) After the hype on this CD I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy. CD1 will sit in it's case and not be played again, except maybe for the Azzido Ba Bass track which is a top tune.CD2 is much better with some great tracks, perfect for listening to before a night out. I would borrow it from a friend before you buy it.
