A Finely Balanced Mixed Of Funky House & Progressive Bliss April 6, 2001 choult@mmm.com (Darlington, UK) Global Underground is perhaps one of the most consistent series in Dance music & this offering is no different. Perhaps bettered only by John's previous offering from Sydney & Sasha's legendary contributions this album really shos his class. A more controlled funk than his Hong Kong album this sees John put in an altogether tight mix which eases between the funky house style which he moved towards with the previous release & the more progressive tracks which have made him so popular.CD1 offers great tracks in Tomiie Satoshi's "Love in Traffic" & Photek's "Mine To Give", easing us through the mix at an even pace. His lengthy mixing style lends itself well to this gradually building mix & with standout tracks such as the Bedrock mix of Way Out West's "The Fall" & the awesome Breeder's "Carnival XIII" CD2 stands out as peak time bliss, contrasting perfectly with the slower groove of CD1. An essential purchase for fans of Digweed, progressive house or nothing more than a damn good record!
Digweed is hit and miss March 28, 2001 bazza_boyee@hotmail.com (Scotland) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
John Digweed is the 'big thing' in the US just now and this CD aims to give a flavour of his recents sets. CD 1 flatters to deceive with a melodic trancy start before quickly settling in to a deep hard house groove. For deep house fanatics only! CD 2 is a different prospect altogether. Digweed is at his best here mixing up trance and earthy, classic deep house tracks which provide a real narrative throughout the 70 minutes of unparallelled quality. A journey it most definitely is. I challenge you not to get sucked in by this hypnotic mix, you've simply got to move to it. More than makes up for the disappointing CD1.
THE AMAZEMENT OF JOHN DIGWEED February 22, 2001 mt7551@aol.com (England) The track listing for this G U is absoulutly amazing. The way it starts is amazing with it begining deep and funky and ending in pure melodic trance, outstanding the best to G U released to date.
