Nice, but not up to the hype or there usual standard. December 7, 2000 Kevin Roast (London) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an interesting mix from Sasha and Diggers - definitely not what I expected from them but this made a nice change. I like the direction they have taken and the mixing is of course excellent, however overall this mix is not the classic their other mixes on global underground or Northen Exposure have been. I don't say this lightly as almost every other one of there mixes I own is still a classic that grows on you continously - I still play them all. This mix simply isn't as inspired and definitely didn't live up to the hype.
Now That They're Done Warming Up... August 22, 2000 sharkris@home.com (Philadelphia, PA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The mixing talents of Sasha and John Digweed are a classic example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. Arguably more enjoyable than any of the boys' four mixes for Global Underground, "Communicate" is reflective of the duo's now-legendary residency at New York's Twilo. Eschewing the ambience of previous installments in the 'Northern Exposure' series, this mix gets right down to business from the start. "Communicate" is much deeper and darker than the duo's trademark progressive house/trance sound. A note to collectors and purchasers - the UK and US editions of "Communicate" differ by one track: presumably a change guided by political correctness, the US edition replaces CD 01's "The Faggot Is You" by Morel with a white label remix of Sven Vath's "Barbarella" courtesy of Deep Dish.
back to basics.. July 12, 2000 drewjay@hotmail.com (Bournemouth, UK) Sasha and Digweed doing what they do best...moving away from the euphoric breakdowns and just banging it out. Expertly mixed as always and every one a blindin' tune (especially the Freelance Icebreakers mix of 'Voices') this album is just superb. A journey..
