 Shame you can't buy them anywhere January 3, 2009

I went into stores over Xmas and tested all the speaker docks on the shelves.
Most of them sounded rubbish even 100+ units!
The only one I could find with decent Bass and quality of sound was the JBL High Performance Radial.
Unfortunately no-one has the Black one is stock.
Most places have this item listed at 137 now but cannot supply it.
I have even tried sourcing them from the USA as they are closer to the 137 mark with shipping.
I have found the odd individual retailer saying they have stock and usually nearer the 200 mark but these sites are usually not running real-time stock inventory systems so you can't trust the stock status anyway :-(
JBL are really missing out on sales here!!!!!

i was quite confused at first about buying a jbl radial ipod dock. i kept reading mixed product information and i wasn't sure if this product did what i wanted it to do.
i wanted it to use a printer usb cable to sync with my computer because apparently you have to use an expensive ipod cable on the radial micro and i wanted the video output to be s-video (unlike a radial micro that a friend owns)also i lost my dock connector that came with my ipod classic so i wanted it to include those.
because of my specific wants i took quite a risk buying this product but when it came i was delighted. in the box were many dock connectors, one of which fit my ipod. it came with a printer usb cable and an auxillary lead. there were two power cables included. one for england and one for france, both were very long but could easily be wrapped around the transformer in the middle of the lead to make it shorter. it did have s-video out but as i expected no lead was supplied.
the performance of the dock was also brilliant. it produced great quality sound even at high volumes which leads onto another point. it can go very loud if you want it to. I've used it at several BBQ's and had to play the music loud but i still haven't got to the volume limit. one great thing is that it always charges your ipod while its connected and it does it fast. since buying the dock i haven't needed to specifically stop using my ipod so it can be charged...it's just always got full battery which is perfect for unexpected long journeys, and because my ipod has a lithium ion battery you can charge it without fully discharging it and not harm it. despite having 6 buttons the remote can do everything on your ipod that the buttons do because 1 button controlls the function of the other 5, this is great for me because i have the dock across the room from my bed which is a bunk bed so getting out of bed just to skip a track or pause it is out of the question.
it does also have some very small bad points though. its quite heavy but not in a way that really matters. also the power cable doesn't stay in very well. if you move it to another place on your desk for example while it is playing, the power cable falls out slightly and has to be put back in and you have to turn it on again before you can listen to it. also although its not actually a bad point, i haven't had a chance to test the video output so i don't know if it works with my ipod classic which are specially designed by apple to not let you watch video on a tv unless it is plugged into the apple universal dock which is quite frankly awful.
overall a great quality, good looking (not that that matters) ipod dock which if put next to a computer can function as computer speakers and as a way of charging and syncing your ipod with your computer. the only significant downside is the price, but since the sound quality is as good as very expensive docks like the ones from bose then its not really an issue.
a must have for anyone with an ipod who can afford it.

I ordered this 2 days ago and received it today on normal free supersaver delivery......thank you amazon. I have spent ages trying to decide on which IPOD speaker dock to get and finally decided on the JB Lansing Radial and boy am I pleased I did. The sound quality coming from such a small item is incredible and having listened to the Bose sound dock in John Lewis, this easily out classes the Bose at a fraction of the price. If you can stand the "star trek" looks complained of in a previous review then buy this. Personally,, I think the radial looks cool but the only reason you should buy this is for the sound quality.......did I say it was incredible????

We bought this after reading all the positive reviews. We are delighted with the sound (even my musician husband loves the sound!). It is stylish. It has an audio in jack and I connected this to our LG TV and was immediatley impressed with the improved richness of the sound as compared to the TV speakers. It is very portable. Took a little while to master the remote controls but once mastered is easy to use. At the time of writing Amazon is selling this for just over 150 compared to nearly 200 at Currys and other highstreet electrical shops. Took three weeks to delivery but worth the wait.

Of the dock/speaker systems I have bought, this is EASILY the best for sound quality. Stylishly designed, very solidly made and fantastic clear sound for the price. It could easily fill a decent sized room. A very slight gripe is that you can't adjust the bass and treble to suit your own tastes but the sound in general is so warm and detailed (occasionally a bit *too* much bass - but only occasionally...)
The remote control is uncluttered and initially a bit fiddly to operate but once you are practised its an absolute breeze.
Forget similar and vastly more expensive products by the likes of Bose. This has remarkable sound at a price that cannot be faulted for the overall quality of the system.
