2 years old and still sounds superb December 3, 2008 D. Sharp (UK) I bought the Pure Evoke 2XT DAB radio two years ago, and it's absolutley brilliant. It was brilliant when I first plugged it in and two years on still sounds great. For it's size, the sound is truly amazing, crisp notes with deep bass. Can't fault it. Try it with Chill FM ! Bliss
A good first DAB choice October 31, 2008 P.Weekes (London, UK) I ordered this for my girlfriend who wanted her first DAB radio and have not been dissapointed. The sound is clear with nice bass, it picks up the channels easily even without the aerial fully extended. Changing the channels is a doddle, while listening to one radi ostation you can scroll through a list underneath and simply push the tunning knob in to change to that channel. The box also comes with an auxiliary audio in the MP3 players although I haven't used this feature and handily includes an optical audio out for plugging into your existing AV amp if you have that facility. The main advantage of this is portability and for that you need to purchase the chargepak, a little pricey at 27 but without it the use of radio is limited as you can't move it from room to room easily, bathroom kitchen for example. The build quality is good and although quite light it seems solid with a nice finish. Overall if you listen to the radio its a worthwhile purchase, good quality, sound and easy to use. I would buy a Pure set again.
Good but annoying niggles May 30, 2008 A. Bailey (London) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Had one for about 10 months now. Well built and very good sound quality, even when used in an internal bathroom (I live in SW London so assume DAB signal is pretty strong). Some small but annoying criticisms though:
1. The necessary charge pack battry is a rip off at 27 extra 2. When powered by battery it has a stupid double-press on button to turn radio back on (press once and it turns off again, need to press twice at carefully spaced interval) 3. No ability to have alarm cancelled at weekends so you need to remember to turn it off every Friday and bakc on Sunday night
Evoke - 2 XT April 19, 2008 Mr. Philip Nelson (Dorset ,England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Excellent sound quality,v/good tone control. Easy to tune and set up.Pleasure to listen to. Bought with recharge battery pack, works well. Was able to pick up 14 No 90- 100% reception Dab stations in North Dorset using radio ariel. Tried TV ariel was worse. Would need to buy Dab ariel to get more stations. Very slight grumble, instruction book says that I have a sleep timer for radio to turn off in 15, 30 mins etc, have not got this! Other timers work well. Argee with other writer that screen display is bright for bedroom even on lowest setting.Ended up draping piece of material accross radio front.
Fault April 18, 2008 The mouse that roared 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am not sure how common this is, but the display on the one I bought stopped working after about 3 months. It remained illuminated by light (i.e. blue) but all of the white text disappeared. Nothing else was wrong with it, it could, for example, play and change channels, but as you can imagine it was thereafter unusable. Before that the only other niggle was that the light display was too bright for a bedroom. Ironically after the display stopped working, this problem remained with no way to remedy it by navigating my way to the display options! If it were not for this fault, though it would have been a good radio with a good sound.
