Hernan Cattaneo delivers the goods January 25, 2004 Greg (SF) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A splendid achievement. Outstanding technical skills coupled with discerning taste in music; a rare combination these days. Sr. Cattaneo takes you on a deep throbbing journey through progressive sound. Akin to Chris Fortier's Bedrock set with a touch of Sander Kleinenberg. On par With Playback Engineering from Tarrentella:Redanka. A fine addition to any thoughtful progressive collection.

not as good as i was expecting August 15, 2003 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Now i'm gonna be the black sheep of this review family. From what i heard of this cd, hernan himself as a dj, the reviews here and the fact that it was on everyones "must have" cd lists i was expecting somthing a little special. Dont get me wrong, this cd is good and their are a couple of tracks that make you think "oh yeah baby". Tracks are well chosen and its a well rounded enjoyable listen but twice through the cd player and i was bored of it. When you compare it to some other dynamite cd's like sashas northern exposure series or hybrid additional production, it just aint up their, its like a nissan skyline against a lambo, sure their both good fast cars, but one doesnt quite cut it! Buy it have a listen, and see what you think, its worth having in your collection and you wont ever steal its case a new beer coaster but if its this or the weekly shop, i know which i'd go for!
Genius CD March 12, 2003 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is exactly what I was looking for, really a DJ CD that you can play and is excellent from beggining to end. The combination of deep house and trance is perfect. I wonder why he is not more famous, in my oinion this is the one of the best DJ sessions I ever heard.
That's what I'm talikin 'bout!!! June 2, 2002 25 out of 27 found this review helpful
Hernan Cattaneo.....wow this guy is ranked 15th in the world right now...with this newest mix I wonder why he isn't higher. Maybe it's because he is not a household name.....yet. Cattaneo has the perfect blend of all the elements that make a great mix..trackselection...originality...and style for days. Progressive-Tribal-Trance this mix incorpertates songs and sounds that seperates Cattaneo from the rest of the prog world. I've had this mix for like two weeks now... and I can easily say that Hernan Cattaneo is one of my favorite DJs. When I was listening to the first disc it totally blew me away. It's spaced out progressive tribal house at its best. It came to me as a shock because Perfecto is usually bright uplifting Oakenfold stuff. Bedrock usually takes the cake when it comes to dark driving tribal progressive(for me anyways)but..Chris Fortier ain't got nothing on Cattaneo. About 40 minutes into the mix something that caught me totally off guard...I've never seen a proghouse cd with a parental advisory...but this is twisted. It just goes to show how innovative and original this man really is. He's not afraid to let it all hang out, maybe he won't be as big as Digweed...but maybe thats not a bad thing...none the less the man is a giant..you will be hearing his name all over in days to come.
