Missing Mark Doyle January 23, 2008 L. Strevens (Bedfordshire, England) This is a good electro house album, however, Mark Doyle (the former HEDKANDI genius)influence is clearly missed!. This is still one of my favourites from the HED Kandi selection; funky and uplifting, although it lacks originality and depth compared to the Mark Doyle days! Feirce Angel here I come (the new Mark Doyle (genius) label).
You can't please everyone....... October 27, 2007 Stuart J. Dillon (Manchester, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this CD with some trepidation as I've slowly watched an amazing brand lose some of its earlier morals of steering away from the charts and showing music fans what can be found out there. Little coincidence I think that things took a bad turn with the departure of a certain key figure from the label.
Twisted is by far my favourite of the collections and I am extremely biased toward them! In this case, sadly, I feel the latest edition was something of a letdown from the second I heard `Party all the time' (my girl wants to). Bearing in mind this was fresh off the charts - then it just continued with several more straight out the production line.
Now don't get me wrong - it is a good CD and you can really hear the fact it has been thoroughly washed in a Hed Kandi Twisted washing machine - that I'm sure would be great to dance and listen to in a Hed Kandi club. There are some stonkin' tunes that really get you going and if this was an off spin in it's own right (from a club night for example) I would be glad to own and recommend it, but it's not. It's Twisted Disco by Hed Kandi and instead of sourcing from the yonder (and there is some amazing stuff comin' out of the American and Canadian scene that is not touching the commercial charts) they are now sat in front of MTV dance chart and putting them through the aforementioned washing machine.
I like it, I really do, but if like me, you were a die-hard fan of what they previously did, then you're gonna' be disappointed. Buy it, you'll like it, I'd give it 4 maybe even 4.5 stars in it's own right - but die hard fans - take out the sleeve and pretend it's not happened! I give it 3 simply for the fact it spells the end for me if it continues like this. Like I said, you can't please everyone!!

Hey there to all Hed Kandi Fans!! This is the one you've all been waitin for..This is by far the best compilation of electronic house music i have ever heard!! Being a DJ myself, it's not often that one buys a CD, where ALL the tracks are absolutely HOT, HOT, HOT!!! This is definately one for your collection...RESPECT to all involved with this at Hed Kandi! Keep the Twisted Trax comin'...

Unmixed Electro House at its best! March 17, 2007 Graham Nicholas 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
As the previous reviewer mentionned, this cd is unmixed as with 90% of all other Kandi cd's. In fact i have all the mix cd's and i can only count 8 including the very illusive Swing City cd out of 68 releases.
If its mixed Electro your after then purchase Electrofied which is a Commercial cd, but i still feel that it has good tracks on it!
Back to this cd now and you might think that you've heard the songs on this release on the radio, but i doubt it very much. The only radio station in which you'd have heard these tracks on is MOS Radio as the mixes of these tracks are Hed Kandi ones!!
Hed Kandi are the same now as they've ever been. What i mean by this is that when they started out 7 years ago, virtually every single tune on each of their releases was unrecognised and new but was played in clubs around the country at Hed Kandi events.
Now-a-days most of the tunes on their releases are commercial, and people say Hed Kandi have gone down the realms of commercialism. They have and they haven't. If you go to a club for a night with Kandi, you will hear a wide variety of tracks and when those commercial songs come on the crowd go mad. What Hed Kandi are doing at the moment, is they are putting these floor fillers on the cd's as this is what most people want!! This is purely because of trend and for the last couple of years Hed Kandi have become more well known and Funky / Electro house music has stamped itself as the IN music at the moment!!
Where Hed Kandi manage to be different from the vast majority of other House labels (with the exception of Fierce Angel, Housexy and Defected which have the same idea as HK) is that they remix the original commercial tracks and add a bit of Kandi magic to them. And thats what they've done to virtually the entire cd here!! There are quite a few new songs on this double cd which is good as it gives variety.
Highlights on this cd for me are: "La Discotek", "Be Still", "Hypnotized", "Elektro" and "What Else Is There" to name a few!!
My favourite is "Hold You" by GusGus. It is a great disco track and could actually be on a Disco Kandi cd as its not as dark as most of the other tracks on this cd but still has a bit of filth somewhere in the mix!!
I honestly think that people should go to Hed Kandi events and see the true Kandi for themselves. You won't be able to experience the best of Kandi just from listening to their cd's!! Trust me..... I've got over 50 of their releases but i still feel that you can't beat the real thing!!
Pacha in London is phenominal for Kandi nights but i've heard from many people that the Honey Club in Brighton is the True Kandi venue. That's where i'll be going next.... Can't wait!!
High Q mixes delivered in the normal Hed Kandi concept March 9, 2007 Will (Electro/trance enthusiast) (UK) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
If the above member had asked anyone who's previously bought anything from the Twisted Disco series (and many another Hed Kandi series) about how the music is compiled, they'd know that the tracks are NEVER mixed. They are all 12" versions with a deliberate gap in the middle.
This is exactly what you would expect from Hed Kandi.
As for DJ naming and mixing, if thats what you want then go for something by Fierce Angel as they have a more personal approach (Mark Doyle used to be part of Hed Kandi but formed this label with others). Defected do some good mixed compilations too.
The choice of tracks I feel are very good - You will always get some floor fillers on there, but always a good dose of numbers you won't have heard of (Yet). Don't forget that even if some are fillers, they're all mixes you won't have heard on the radio anyways, so there's still a lot of variety.
