2 out of 5 stars Hed Kandi RIP   November 4, 2006

With the current release of Hed Kandi cds you can see the direction that the brand has taken since being bought by MOS. These compilations are no longer about the music but aimed at making money and rank up there with the NOW!!! That's What I Call Music in the cheesy stakes. Acquiring the brand was a huge coup for MOS but with the increasing commercialisation of house music it was going to be interesting as to which way the brand was to go. Unfortunately if you're a fan of house music give this a miss as you might as well just turn on the radio to hear these tunes. If you're a true fan of house music purchase something by Defected or Fierce Angels to hear the real sound of house

For those of you who love Hed Kandi check out Hed Kandi at The Honey Club, one of Britains top clubs in Brighton. It's amazing, and absolutely brilliant and makes you utter "wow" under your breath as you walk out.
This album is pretty good, the classics are there as well as some tracks not so commercialised.
Hed Kandi can now officially rank above MOS, as The Honey Club (Hed Kandis official nightclub) is ranked 14th best club in the world, several places higher then the now mediocre MOS. *DJ Magazine
This really shows here and I don't think Hed Kandi have "lost it" as some say. It's difficult to DJ, beleive me, and one of the hardest things is track selection.
At the end of the day, real Hed Kandi is at the Honey Club, so if the CD's miff you, check it out.

Very much a step down from the usual Hed Kandi standard. This is very very commercial, and not good commercial house either.

4 out of 5 stars I like it....   September 12, 2006

This isn't the best cd ever released by Hed Kandi but it's pretty damn good. I think it's time to move on from the departure of a certain person, Hed Kandi represents a style of music that is enjoying huge popularity at the moment. The success or lack of it cant just be attributed to one person selecting the tunes, what about the people who write this incredibly uplifting stuff. Yes this cd is a little more commercial than the older stuff but that's because it's really good, if the music is really good a lot of people will buy it and a lot of djs will play it, you cant have it both ways.

I was lucky enough to be at a HedKandi night in Ibiza this summer and I'm pretty sure that I heard most of the tracks on here played (certainly cd one anyway). So if they're playing them on the nights and a crowded club are going nuts the music on here isn't dated as some have suggested, it's what works at this time.

I was worried that Hedkandi would go down the pan after a certain company bought them out, that company has ruined many a good thing before but that simply isn't the case here.

I say so what if some of the tracks have had commercial success, they deserve to, it's not like this is a cd full of Craig David tunes with a four by four beat stuck on the back - this is good funky & electro house. Go and buy it, it's good!!

2 out of 5 stars Es Vive has won this time!   August 31, 2006

Simply awful.
I look forward to hed kandi's 3 disc compilations eevry year with high hopes. This years has most certainly NOT delivered.
dated tracks and boring repatative synths!

cd1 - Up untill the last 5 tracks i thought i was listening to 'now thats what i call dance' due to the commerical rubbish put on this cd. very dated tracks which had me up and pumping last summer. Expected something more this year and kandi have failed me!

cd2 - not bad BUT it still has that awful commercialness with it. I was very bored by track 7 and decided to stop listening.

cd3 - oh great another greatest hits. yay! wtf, we need somthing we haven't heard before not a compilation of another 'night enders'

Having stuck with kandi since Doyle's departure and having given it some loyal support and can safely say since MOS take over. HED KANDI has lost its touch completly. its dull, boring, commercial and BORING! (yes i know i have repeated myself!)

Es Vive (from Fierce Angels) is alot better. and has cwon the summers fight for best 3cd compilation.
