The best so far....... November 2, 2005 Scubaboy (Swansea, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Haven't received WC1 or WC4 yet but this one - number 5 in the series is surely the best I've heard to date. Consistent, high quality music throughout. I suspect that this may be Mark Doyle's last effort in the series now that he's moved on to pastures new, and what an effort!Hardly a weak track in sight and some truly outstanding chillout tunes for grown-ups. Could be criticised for the abundance of female vocalists and a lack of instrumentals, but what's on the table is sumptuous indeed. CD1 starts with the (naughty?) "Measure Up" by Eventide and there's no let up thereafter in the cool, frosty vibe. Kelli Ali, yet again is outstanding with "Groupie" and even the Sugababes (yes, the Sugababes!) pop up with the excellent "Stronger". Mark has been criticised for making un-cool choices in his compilations but, as he always said, "it's all about the music". Never a truer moto, particularly as the best song on the whole album comes from Natalie Imbruglia - never thought a former soap star could produce something of such quality - outstanding! Don't know what the new Team Kandi have planned for the WC series - I hope they continue where this left off, although judging by the patchy efforts of HK50 and Disco Kandi 53(05.05) they may be struggling a bit - I hope I'm proved wrong. Whatever happens, enjoy this little piece of brilliant Kandi history - buy it now!
Winter Chill gets better March 31, 2005 A. Johnston (London, UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm a big fan of Hed Kandi's Winter Chill and Serve Chilled series, and this one is the best yet.CD1 is more vocal based than many of the past compilations, but nevertheless works well, while CD2 is slightly more downbeat and better to listen to much later at night. Can't wait for the next one!
Great Compilation March 19, 2005 Omid Keshtkar (Chicago, IL USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I wandered into the world of Hed Kandi by accident, not exactly the thing here in the US. The Winter Chill series are my favorite so far and this one is quite good, and let's not forget the great album art. After getting this I went out and got the rest of the Winter Chills. The perfect mood music.
