New to Hed Kandi? Try this for size! August 23, 2003

Hed Kandi is more of a brand of music than a label. The trick is, put together some of the best house, US Garage, dance, disco, chillout and acid jazz onto a variety of CDs, give them catchy names (Stereo Sushi, Disco Kandi, Beach House, Serve Chilled etc etc)and simply get lost in the music.Mark Doyle is Hed Kandi, and he's made a reputation for himself over the last few years for some of the best quality compilations around. For newcomers to the brand, this is a great introduction, though unusual in that it is a mix (rather than the full, unmixed 12" versions). No bad thing, though, as the mixing is done with feeling and almost compassion. Try it out, and then test the water with some of the collections named above. Or try other Kandi mixes (Base 2003, for example, which is one of my favourite night-sound albums at the moment).
