Amazon.co.uk Review If the seemingly endless glut of Ibiza compilations are themed, spiritually, in the flashy, trashy fashion of a Club 18-30 package holiday, Deeper is Hed Kandi main-man Mark Doyle's stab at capturing the much more refined sound of a stolen fortnight in a distant, secluded paradise. Over two discs, Doyle veers into melancholy, soulful deep house waters, choosing tracks for their seamless mood-shifts and consistent stylings, and--rather unusually, in the world of house compilations--presenting his selections out of the mix. This, of course, could be seen as a boon for the aspirant DJ of a deep or progressive bent: with tracks such as the Masters at Work remix of Jaffa's "Elevator" or a beefed-up Deep Dish remix of "Always Remember To Respect And Honour Your Mother" by Faithless' main-man Rollo's Dusted side-project presented clean, this is an ideal place to go track-spotting. As it happens, Doyle isn't entirely averse to the commercial tracks where they fit the mould; Rui Da Silva's "Touch Me"--a No.1 in 2000--slides slickly in between the more obscure picks. Hed Kandi are developing a reputation as the compilation pick of choice for the more discerning, mature house enthusiast, and Deeper is no exception. --Louis Pattison

Disappointing from Hed Kandi October 26, 2002 Mr. A. Brown (Northampton, UK) 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
Really a bland compilation that doesn't live up to the brilliance of the Disco Kandi, Back to Love and Winter Chill compilations. OK for in-car listening on a long journey, but I find myself using the skip button an awful lot. Put it this way - if you're going to buy your first Hed Kandi compilation, make it something else!
Buy it and bliss out!!! September 2, 2001 jools109@jerseymail.co.uk (Jersey, Channel Islands) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bought this on a whim, after really liking the others in the series... and fab packaging. Double CD of SERIOUSLY chilled tunes - perfect for late at night....Check out track 4 CD 1 for over 7 minutes of heaven! Some beautiful tracks that will lead you to seek out new music. I play it at work sometimes when I need a bit of peace. This is just one in a series, covering chill out, disco, funk and jazz. Buy it as an investment for the coming winter.... it'll keep you warm
Kandi's darkly chilled house grooves March 23, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Within four months I've now purchased my eighth Hed Kandi CD Deeper. This follows the excellent Chill Out series and versatile Nu Cool grooves. I found Deeper's sound lies some where between the mid tempo'd chill out sound and the disco club house beats of Disco Kandi, I found this milder and more palatable than the blatant beats of the Disco Kandi series. I must admit I'm no real fan of house and found it curiosity to puchase this knowing the quality of Mark Doyle's compilations. What I found was chilled dark house grooves , disc 1 laid back and the tempoes elevated on disc 2.A:XUS a favourable late night thumper, other winners the club mix of Dusted, Limos and Afterlifes dancefloor re-mix is the most boost I've heard to the Baleiric group. I must admit that Deeper isn't my favourite Kandi CD as I prefer the down tempo chillout CD's but Deeper is worth getting in to if you are in to the club scene or even if you aren't and are like me in to the living room club scene.
Chilled but funky ! March 17, 2001 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
If you are a fan of HedKandi's releases like i am, you'll know about their chilled, disco and nu-cool series. This complilation displays elements of all three although drawing most heavily from chilled. All the tracks are pretty long because they have huge intros and outros but never get boring or tiresome. The inclusion of some well-known artists, Rui Da Silva and MJ Cole, help to break the listener into the style but you derive the most enjoyment out of discovering some of the newer and less well-known tracks. If you like chill-out you'll like this......if you don't like chill-out this album will teach you how to
