Almost there, but still one of the freshest albums in aaages! July 5, 2007 T. Clarke (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
What a refreshing album! With so much cheese and commercial hits that bombard albums now, with the ever falling Clubland Series, and well, just albums that pop up with titles like "X-treme Dance Mania" etc, this is one album that stands out as being a true reflection of our ever-changing club scene. It may not be the 90's anymore, but this album proves their is still life left in the Global Gathering get togethers! Although there are 3 discs, I only gave this 4 stars because I felt they could have compacted the album into 2 discs easy. But in an effort to seperate trance, house, and electro, they added alot of fillers. This makes Disc 1 the best, as it has the newest and frshest sounds with little to no fillers. Lost by Roger Sanchez was hammered on the likes of Radio 1, a great song that reminds me of Exceeder by Manson (why the hell isn't that on here??) while I won't bother naming the other great tracks - theirs 16 of them! I was particularly impressed by the remix of Right Here Right Here which fits the cd well, and the likes of La Luna, Changes, and Friday Night make it a happy mix. CD2 and 3 however are the only flaws in the album, as their are too many fillers. Disc 2 reminds me of a Clubland CD with its slightly cheesey house/trance tracks, while I can't believe they made us wait till CD 3 to hear Walking Away by Egg, one of the years biggest tracks! But upon saying this, there are stand out tracks on these final tracks, but it would have made more sense to simply 'sort the best from the rest' rather than drawing it out. The mixing itself is obviously by computer - this is a topic that is rarely bought up now because we can just suspect it will indeed be done on the cheap. But through the quality of the timing, this was not done by Steve Canueto (Ministry of Sounds dodgey DJ through the '00 era..) With little niggles aside, its worthing buying for Cd1 alone. Afterall, they do sell albums with just one disc for the same price!....Any 3 disc album is surely value for money!

Having never been to Global Gathering I can't say I have much to base this album on except my listening pleasures. The first CD kicks off with the addictive 'Around The World' by Daft Punk, a hot summer tune that will surely light the charts up along with 'Always and Forever' Chocolate Puma. Both these songs alone are excellent songs to start an amazing 3 CDs off with. There is an extremely wide range of songs on this album which will surely please everyone. If your looking for the freshest dance songs...they're here. If your looking for techno..its here. The first CD is mainly techno with some real gems standing out. Including the two above songs and: Ferry Corsten-Watch Out, Fatboy Slim-Right Here, Right Now, Chris Lake-Changes and Discopolis. A fantastic first disk. The second disk starts off with the satisfying vocals of Karen Overton-Your Loving Arms. A strong track which leads into various trance songs. New tracks by Tiesto, Armin van Buuren and 4 Strings stand out here. If there is one thing I'm not happy with it would be the very poor remix of Fonzerelli-Moonlight Party. Nowhere near as good as the mix on Cream Summer 2006 and a very good house tune for the summer! Disappointed with this song although the CD picks up into techno again towards the end with Judge Jules-Rumble a good song and He's a pirate, which will bring smiles to anyone who has seen Pirates of the Carribean. The 3rd CD is the weakest of the 3 CDs but is still pretty good. I didn't enjoy a lot of the songs on this CD with the hottest dance track this summer to boost the 3rd disk's rating 'Walking Away-The Egg' and 'We are Your Friends'. This CD is pretty satisfying but in my opinion not as strong as the first 2 CDs. Overall this CD is well worth buying and a true indication of the hottest summer tracks of 2006. I strongly recommend buying this on amazon with the mixed package of Cream Summer 2006 as both will show a true indication of the best dance tracks out at the moment. If your looking for commercial dance and cheesy pop anthems...try the new Clubland.
Global Gathering - Ahh the memories!!! July 31, 2006 Jimmy Boy (Birmingham, England) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Well where do I start, this album is amazing and captures the two nights at Global Gathering in Stratford-Upon-Avon perfectly. Cd 2 is awesome and by far the best of the three cd's with the highlights being; Ferry Corsten's 'Whatever', Armin van Buuren's 'Control Freak' and 4 Strings 'Into the night'. This is by far the freshest dance album available to buy at the moment as it does not rely too heavily on the old dance/trance classics that many dance albums that are out at the current time do. I have played the album non-stop since I bought it and can't wait for next years Festival!!!!
Brilliant July 31, 2006 Rowena (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love this. I bought it the day of release, and I love it still. House will always be my favourite on CD One, but the other two discs I love almost as much. Brilliant album from Godskitchen.
