Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Those who say corporate super-clubbing is dead should look to Godskitchen for the real facts. As one of the leading independent forces in UK dance culture, in 2003 they look set to dominate the global scene with the kind of international touring and promotion that would kill the average rock star. Godkitchen Direct is the first in a series of own label releases and sets out its stall in a winningly confident manner. Over three CDs and three separate mixes, the trance formula from which the club's reputation is forged is explored in all permutations. On CD1, Hybrid's doom laden, goth-tribalism lays down the gauntlet with a sequence of heavy duty space riffs that would take the roof off if provoked. CD2 champions a mix of rent-a-dream vocal tracks, nicely contrasted with tougher ventures and CD3 provides the money shot with a raw and brutal selection that builds to a climax of pent-up energy. --Paul Tierney

Unlike everyone else, I thought this CD was dead average.

Whilst I thought Resident Transmission by Gatecrasher was world class, this CD is not a patch on it.

If you had to choose between the two, there is no choice.

I'm disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Godskitchen - music from the heavens   February 27, 2003

What can I say, this album is truly worthy of God himself. A potent and bang-on portrayal of what is really happening in clubs up and down the country.
From start to finish, you may well find yourself completely overwhelmed by the outstanding quality of the music... Particular tracks that floated my boat include Oakenfold's 'The Prophet', GTR vs. The Shrink with 'Nervous Breakdown', and the devastatingly quality 'Gatex' by Umek - a track which has been tearing the roof of clubs like Slinky for a little while now...

Cd's of this standard are few and far between... This one follows on in the always-legendary tradition of Godskitchen, and of all the GK albums I own, indeed of all the albums I own, this one stands out as a guarunteed bosh-fest and definitely one of my favourites.

Buy it, stick it on your player before going out, and you won't help but have an excellent night... the words 'pure class' were invented solely for this album.

you know it makes sense...

This is it, finally Godskitchen have broken away from INC the CD publishing company and gone it alone on their own label. The result is mindblowing, this includes 3 cd`s of Quality trance (no cheese in sight). The first is a prog early set with quality tunes including the excellent ICE-CREAM by MIKE and Jon 00 Fleming. CD 2 is a Tiesto Style main trance prime time set. The 3rd cd is a Hard trance late set growing ever more popular in trance circles along with Umex Gatex as a treat.

In short neerly every good tune at the moment for what every trance you prefer BUY IT!

Best Compilation EVER! Not yet avail. in the U.S., picked up in London. But am telling all my friends about it. They are very envious! Really gets you in the mood. Check out the Godskitchen web site and view the tv commercial and see for yourself.

I love the fact that each disc states the time frame for which it was played. If I close my eyes, a chill runs through me and I feel as though I have been teleported to the club with the colourful lights, lasers, and crowded dance floor, bouncing to the beat w/ our arms in the air gesturing to the DJ's with utmost approval. (Glow sticks optional.)

A MUST HAVE for anyone's collection of great dance beats.

5 out of 5 stars Godskitchen hits new heights with treble stunner!!   January 16, 2003

I brought the last three Godskitchen albums and I was generally pleased with what I got. However, the last one (Summer trance) was slightly cheesy. Godskitchen direct is nowhere near cheesy, its one of the first cd's I have brought for a while that does not contain duplicate tracks off other dance albums. This cd has took GK albums to a new level, in my opinion they are now on par with Gatecrasher albums. All three cds are good. The first one is nice trance that builds you up, the highlights of this cd are 'Hemstock & Jennings – Rendezvous', 'Hiver & Hammer – 5 million miles' and 'Jan Johnston – Flesh'. The first installation on many GK cd's is usually disappointing but this one is well worth listening to all the way through, nice mellow trance to start with which then builds up towards the end. What can I say about the 2nd cd? It's passionate and pumpin!!! Every track on this cd is well worth a listen and my personal favourites include 'Cygnus X – Positron (Armin remix)', 'Armin – The sound of Goodbye', 'Marco V – Rise!', 'Darren Tate – Fall from Grace' and the superb 'Oakenfold vs DJ Judas – The Prophet'. It was very hard to pick my favourites from such a good cd. The third cd is hard, hard trance and also has its euphoric moments. It starts off with the banging 'Umex – Gatex' then get ready to be rocked!! again every track is superb and the mixing is awesome. Other tracks I love on this cd include 'Airbase – Genie (what a tune!!!), 'Erik Vee – Wildside (awesome!!) and 'Prime mover – Feel what I feel'. Again it was such a tough choice to pick out tunes from an otherwise flawless cd. If I was you I would definitely buy this cd go home stick all three on and just listen to how high the standard has now become. I also went Godskitchen on new years eve so I now know it is true what they say…this is direct from Godskitchen. When you stick it on its like being in GK at 3am with Armin/Fergie/Tiesto and co. blowing the roof off. Well done Godskitchen, very impressed and please don't falter and become pure stilton like the way the 'Annual' and 'Clubbers guide' cd's have gone.
