Electric Guitars aren't often used in dance tracks! April 10, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a dnace track with a difference. It samples the Flashdance theme to produce an almost unique sound, although like a previous reviwer has mentioned the chorus from the original has been wisely chopped from this version. Electric guitars have also been included to produce a sensational claustrophobic vibe to the choon. The remixes on offer here are all quite samey with the Original Club Mix, the Skylark Remix and Dave Guetta's Mix being the highlights. I was very disppointed with the Raul Rincon Mix, yet this mix has seemingly appeared on many compliation CDs. Quite why is anyone's guess. I am eagerly anticipating Deep Dish's next single release "Say Hello" which should be out sometime in the summer.
Song Of 2004 December 21, 2004 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Deep Dish's superb rendition of "Flashdance" is easily the finest single of 2004. Originally titled "He's A Dream", the old-time dance duo have teamed up with American vocalist Anousheh Khalili to make a funkier, edgier version of the track. The song is a bit of a crossover. The up-tempo dance beats in the background ensure the track never fails, while the continuous guitar licks throughout the track will have it being played in clubs in years to come. Deep Dish rightfully took the chorus out of the song. The part where you think the song will change, and then it never quite does, is where the chorus would normally have started. It would have sounded out of place on this version, as the chorus is very over-the-top.Anousheh's effortless, ice-cool vocals suit the classy lyrics, and original and unique instrumentation of the song. It remains the same throughout, and this is partly why I love this song so much. It's original, and the lyrics are a real put-down to whom the song is about. "He hasn't a met a girl like me, are you kidding? Well I tell him that I'd rather die". It's rarely been out of my CD player since I got it. Easily the song of 2004.
