What's this?...It's got a good beat! November 4, 2003 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The immortal words of my grandmother! And if grannie likes it then its alright by me. This CD is a good overview, starts chilled and slowly kicks in (after track 7) Some outstanding tunes on here and seamless mixes. Top CD for the collection

If you liked the GU25 compilation and are expecting more of the same from the after club mixes then you will be sorely disappointed. Avoid.

Dubfire takes control for this part of the Toronto ultra package from Global Underground. Hitting a slightly deeper vein than Sharam on his own CD here, Dubfire takes you on a journey of dub, deep clicky house, choice classic house cuts and the firing on all cylinders Yoshitoshi sound. This mix is superbly crafted, taking you up from the deepest depths of Korsakov, through the soulful chilled house of Love Quarted right up to the chunking Deep Dish mixes of Elisa and Timo Maas, a classic prog house moment in the form of Underworld's remix of St Etienne, and the bumping prog of Anarcrusan. For me, Dubfire comes out on top in the battle of the Afterclub mixes, selecting a deeper selection of tracks, forgotten favourites of his and current thunkin' faves, all mixed together smoothly in a progression that gathers pace and purpose as the CD progresses. Just watch as it moves from deep to pumping as the you listen. Some wicked mixing moments in the way that the eerie synths from Cool Kids Of Death carry on over the techy beats of Operator. I don't know where the key to the success of this mix lies, perhaps its the choice of tracks, the smooth mixing, the entire progression of the mix. Perhaps its all of that. I just know that it hit a chord with me. Bang on Mr Dubfire.
5 stars......not enough for this gem! August 18, 2003 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I'd first like to thank the boys from iran for compiling such a wonderful, beautiful mix of house that is the whole GU25 experience, well done lads!!!! personally i like the two afterclub mixes more...thats more than the mega toronto 2 disc set! you'll find on this CD arguably the best bit of prog trance aound at the mo, which is Anarcrusan's In My Mind. other highlights include ELISA's Come Speak To Me and Love Quartet, Kiss Me, but the whole disc is very stong. To be honest i cant really separate any of the four disc series. My advice buy the lot! Toronto preclub, and the afterclubs for later when youre buggered! Cheers for this perminant grin thats on my face fella's......NICE ONE!
