Amazon.co.uk Review The house scene we know and love was indeed born in the USA, and for anybody with an interest in the roots of modern dance music, Azuli's Choice series makes essential listening. No matter, for example, that Danny Tenaglia is best known these days for his extensive outings in upfront prog--a house party at the Tenaglia place would obviously rock to quite a different beat. Comprising mainly proper warehouse tracks at their timeless best (Mr.Lee's "I Can't Forget", Jus Friends "As One"), over-stroking of the chin is avoided on CD 1 with the inclusion of honest party tunes such as Nomad's "Devotion" and Christian Falke's love song "Make It Right". Mr T takes it a bit more disco-funk on CD 2 (Tony Cook's "On the Floor" vs Sylvia Stryplin's "Give Me Your Love"), and finishes off with some sexy garage in the form of Loni Clark's "Rushin'" and Jomanda's fabulous "Make My Body Rock". --Ruby Tuesday

Varied and decent. September 6, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Tenaglia says in his sleeve notes that he hopes this CD stays in our cars' changers for quite a while, and I think my copy will. I want to echo what other reviewers have said about "Changes" and especially "Outta Limits". The latter is one of the deepest, darkest and best house records of all time. I first heard this record in 1991, and when I played Tenaglia's CD and the tune oozed out of the speakers....I was a very happy bloke indeed. Just brilliant.
PANTS! July 21, 2003 5 out of 15 found this review helpful
Obviously the people that rated this Cd have no idea about dance music, the whole cd is cheesy and there is nothing to get your teeth into! Hed Khandi is pretty cheesy but this is much, much worse!A complete waste of money!

"...flip through your 25,000 records that you love so much. Then could you choose 20-25 of your favourites and mix them together..." Dave Piccioni, owner of Azuli Records, addressing to Danny Tenaglia. So you can imagine what sort of album this is. Absolutely essential for everyone who is into house or any type of dance music. There is not a single average song. All are really good with amazing basslines, melodies, vocals, you name it. It really introduced me to the early years of disco and house, since I am relatively new to the genre. There are many gems in there, such as "Changes" by Imagination, "Don't Go Lose It Baby" by Hugh Masekela and "Give Me Your Love" by Sylvia Striplin. This compilation also has tunes from 1999 and 2001 ("Make It Right" and "Elevation"), which Danny reckons that they will be classics in 10-20 years from now... and I don't blame him. So make a choice and pick up this classic album.
TENAGLIA GIVES US THE USUAL HIGH STANDARDS AND MUCH MORE!!! January 18, 2003 S. A. Hutchinson (London, UK) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is the first time that the American DJ and one of the greatest innovators in this genre has spread his talents over a collection of dance music 'Classics. This CD is packed with superb tracks, some that are well known and some new ones that Danny Tenaglia has used as his 'DJ Secret Weapons'and is generous enough to share with us.The beautiful mix by Larry Levan of Imagination's 'Changes' is a highlight for me, as is the Ralph Falcon produced Mission Control 'Outta Limits'..I love that Miami sound! This is the perfect CD for a party at home or a bar as the music spans over 25 years from disco to house via quality R&B and there is something for everyone here. The whole CD flows together brilliantly with lots of interesting edits and the most unique point for me is that DT had a tasteful piano solo dropped at the end of Frankie Knuckles 'The Whistle Song'which fits perfectly and is a real suprise. The sleeve notes are packed with comments and information about why he chose each track and you get the overall impression that a tremendous amount of work went into this CD. For me this is the best collection of classics that I have heard and is guaranteed to give lasting enjoyment for its sheer diversity and the fact that it will have you dancing around your room whatever the time of day!
