Amazon.co.uk Review Including footage from Miami, Ibiza, the Berlin Love Parade and elsewhere, Ministry of Sound's The Annual 2003 is an excellent round-up of some of the year's best moments in dance (although it's a year in advance of its title), to the point that you can almost forgive the brand's association with "corporate clubbing", extending as it does from headphones to hoodies. The music comes from 2 Heads, M001, Julie McKnight, Distant Soundz, Hi-Gate and several others. The notorious Ministry mixes are often derided, but this one holds up pretty well. One of the best features on the DVD is the optional visual presentation of the 72-minute main feature--you can choose to watch either the reportage footage or a bloopy graphic mix. The latter isn't the best--check out The Shamen DVD Collection (seriously) for that--but it's a great value-adding concept. On the DVD: The Annual 2003 has special features that are not only very good but are really as central to the enjoyment of the package as the main bit. They include interviews with Fergie, Paul van Dyk, Danny Howells and Freq Nasty and a trailer for the mixing-for-fun BPM console game. As well as the alternative visual streams there are stereo or 5.1 surround sound options and subtitles in five languages, all of which is commendably unskimpy. --Roger Thomas

The Annual DVD is GREAT. Footages from Ibiza to Berlin, musics, party videos, visuals are well mixed. The optional visual part is perfect. Nothing more to say, just wonderful. Peace :)
Classy first attempt, more of the same please August 27, 2003 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you were wondering what your ministry annual would sound like using all your digital surround sound speakers then wonder no more! At last a dance album in full 5.1 surround (note that it is in 2.1 stereo by default and you need to select 5.1 from the menu). It definitely adds to the atmosphere and the graphics are great too. I didn't think much of the documentaries but they were okay to round off the package. All in all a great addition to the annual cds, let's hope that they keep doing the dvds too!
Wow, this DVD rocks! November 6, 2002 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
Well I've given it 5 stars so what more do I need to say? Seriously though this is one cool disc! There are some great tracks on here and the video and graphics are wicked. The graphics for Klea's "Tic Toc", "Forever" by Trinity X and "Forever" by N-Trance look great (plasma screen and some BIG speakers required!)You get a choice of graphics or video for every track (15 tracks)and both really add to the music. Stereopol's "Dancing Tonight" looks more camp than I'd ever pictured in my head though! There's half a dozen extra features on clubs/djs around the world which are pretty cool and an advert for a new PS2 thing for making your own mixes - looks good. The disc itself works great: nice menus, great picture and sound quality, and didn't crash on my laptop DVD player (something of a first!)Haven't got the gear to check out the surround audio yet but the "hi-fi mix" sounded great pumped through my stereo and there's a "for tv" mix which sounded better on my PC speakers. I reckon my only criticism would be the last track "Tell it to my heart". It's a bit weak compared with the rest of the disc. Might have been better to end on one of the cooler tracks. Looks like a lot of effort's been put into this though and it's really paid off. Enjoy!
