TOP MAN September 2, 2008 D. J. Fisher (Yorkshire) After poor releases from Tiesto and Lange trance master Armin gets it right with this melodic new feast. Going wrong/ Fine without you are killer vocal tracks but the tune on this album is with the best female singer on the planet Sharon Del Adel from symphonic rockers Within Temptation , In and Out of Love. It had to be a good album to top his first release, is it as good? only time will tell. Also buy Solarstone new album even better!
A gem of an album August 31, 2008 Andrew Hamilton (Cumbria, UK) I'm not normally given to writing reviews, but having purchased Imagine 4 weeks ago, I felt I had to share the fact that this album is a gem. The music somehow manages to be both instantly accessible and uplifting, but also has enough depth and complexity to grow on you each time you listen to. It's not out and out trance and there are a lot of vocal tracks on here, but don't let that put you off because the blend of haunting melodies and uplifting beats will have you reaching for this album over and over and over again - highly recommended!
AMAZIN! Worth Every Penny July 18, 2008 Brian Callaghan (N.Ireland) Ive just came home from Ibiza after 7 weeks! Had the time of my life! Normally im a fan of techno and hard house music and sometimes listened to trance!! Friends of mine introduced me to Armin and this album, and what an album it is! FANTASTIC! A must buy for any dance music lover! The kind of trance you want to listen too when driving in the rain! The production is 1st class and the vocals are just haunting!! 10/10!
Armin's best yet May 12, 2008 Andy Taylor 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Some people will probably disagree with this, but in my humble opinion this is defiantely Armin's best artist album. Maybe I'm a little biassed as it brings back good memories for me from Armin Only, but even if I hadn't been to that amazing night I'm sure my opinion of the album would still be the same.
There seems to be an unwritten rule these days that a trance artis't album has to be made up largely of non-trance "album versions" of tracks that will later be released as proper 12" versions, which is all well and good in some respects, but often lead to albums that don't really give you what you wanted when you bought them. While there are a couple of slightly more downtempo tracks on this album, on the whole this unwritten rule has been ignored and instead Armin has opted to stick to what we love him for- good honest beautifully produced trance. Not that this means the album is samey or repetative, far from it, each track is unique, drawing from the diverse range of sounds that make up trance as it stands today.
What really makes this album stand out from his previous outings is the quality of the vocal tracks (which make up 8 out of the 11 tunes on the album). While I've always liked armin's previous vocal work, it's always seemed to lack a bit of the depth compared to the likes of Above & Beyond, but that's certainly not the case here. Each one has a different vocalst- some familiar names, some you'll never have heard of before, and again this just adds to the diversity and quality of the album.
Highlighs for me are the incredible journey of an opening track (and album title track) "Imagine", the sing-along anthem "Going Wrong", and "Hold On To Me" beautifully sung by Audrey Gallagher of "Big Sky" and "Holding Onto Nothing" fame. These are my highlights but there are no low-points as far as I'm concerned, another factor that makes this album stand out compared to Armins previous work.
If you want evidence of why Armin is currently voted the world's number 1 DJ, buy this album.
Return of the master May 9, 2008 Christine Rees (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
